You know what players I want on my fantasy team?
I want players who are 'due for a correction'.
I want players who has many predictions for regression.
I want players who are playing over their heads.
I want players who 'may' be taking PED's.
That means that somebody is playing great. He wasn't supposed to be great.
But he is.
These are, for the most part, the same player.
This player has surprised everybody with how well he has played before the All Star break. And no matter what is said about this player, his stats are in the bank. He has helped you get where you are in your league. No matter if it's a runaway first place, or keeping you in the running in the middle of the pack, or saving you from last place, near the bottom of the pack.
We laugh at the words 'correction', 'regression', and PED's when describing this player.
NAH-NER-NAH-NER-NAH-NER!
The stats are in the bank. Screw those that think our player is undeserving of his stats. I'd rather have 14 hitters like these than 14 hitters like Ryan Braun.
Screw Ryan Braun!
Ask his owners, they'll tell you the same thing.
If asked if Chris Davis or Ryan Braun is a better player to own for the rest of the year, even Braun enthusiasts would say Davis.
Because no matter how good Braun is in the second half or no matter how bad Davis is supposed to be in the second half, in the end, Davis will have the better stats.
They're banked.
At this time of year, we rat's ass words like regression. If a player due for regression actually regresses after the All Star break, we'll deal with that when it happens.
How bad can he be?
Like Ryan Braun in the first half?
Players that are due for regression are not treated like our wives. They're our mistress. We're not emotionally invested, but the sex is mind-blowing.
We are married to our high choices. Like Braun owners. Braun owners are obligated to have Braun in their lineup any time Braun is healthy. Can't help it, they're married.
Our mistress was taken in the 10th round or even lower. If regressing in the second half, he hits the bench.
Or in mistress terms, the sex has gotten stale; In that case, Note to self: Find new mistress.
What really sucks is that divorce is out of the question. For either the player thought to be regressing or the Ryan Braun types. Both have shown too much in the past for them to hit faab. Braun owners think back to why they drafted Braun. They'd heard the rumors. They didn't care. They like that they got that 'value' (don't get me started) because of those rumors. After all, Greg and Tom were going crazy that he had dropped to a number four adp from number one, simply because of rumors.
They didn't think it was fair.
Greg and Tom let a little bit of fandom get in the way of common sense. Braun has never been a number one 'shoo in'. He was simply number one in adp, a little bit ahead of Cabrera and Trout.
Rumors, like the one's that affected Braun would affect ANY player near the top.
Put Miguel Cabrera's name on a slip of paper at a biogenes clinic and watch him drop in drafts.
I think without Milwaukee ties, Greg and Tom would understand the drop in adp, they couldn't fathom it for their boy, Braun.
The best statistics for fantasy players, are good statistics that are banked. They can say what they want about our overachieving players.
Screw 'em! Those stats are part of the standings.
Call him a regression candidate. Call him an overachiever. Call him a cheater. Call him anything you want.
We don't care!
Because until he is not, we'll go on calling that player what we've called him all year.
Money.
For the Overachiever On Our Roster
For the Overachiever On Our Roster
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
Re: For the Overachiever On Our Roster
When the whole debate about Bruan started, would he or wouldnt he get suspended, as you point out, Just the pressure of the "rumors" about him being inlvolved would seemingly have to affect his performance and one would've thought his ADP. It's always amazing how things turn out... some, like me, speculated Braun would never come close to returning top 10 or even 30 performance and I did consider him not getting suspended in that speculation. As it turns out, he's still not suspended yet, but his performance for other reasons has declined, albeit injury and I'm sure the pressure and the big question is, could it be because he no longer is on PEDS? The kid has had to deal with a lot this season and it seems more often than not in any walk of life, when things go bad they seem to keep going bad.
If he didnt EVER do PEDS, then I would truly feel bad for what he has had to go through....it still remians to be seen though.
