Will Venable hit .224 before the All Star break last year.... .315 after
Both Upton's are in the top 10 of batters striking out....if an owner complains about their consistency, there is always that....
The Upton's, at the least, keep good company.....Mike Trout is second in all of baseball in striking out.....I believe his owners anticipated him being a leader in other categories.....
I talked to a Trevor Plouffe owner yesterday. He said that Plouffe will be alright. "All he has to do, he said, was change his doubles to home runs." Plouffe has 14 doubles and just one home run.
I picture this owner going to McDonalds, ordering a Big Mac, staring at it, waiting for it to turn into steak.....
Carlos Santana has taken the former Adam Dunn approach of being picky about every pitch. So, it is no surprise that Santana is second in all of baseball with 32 walks.
Dunn, less pickier this year, has ten less walks than Santana. And in this mix, they have somehow managed batting averages that are closer to the other in the past. Santana hitting .148, Dunn, one hundred points higher at .248.....
In my best Ron Shandler impersonation....
74 hitters have a better batting average than Mike Trout...
11 hitters have scored more runs...
20 hitters have more home runs...
28 hitters have more rbi
40 hitters have more stolen bases...
Howie Kendrick is this years Daniel Murphy?...
He already has three more stolen bases than he had all of last year......
Remember that Plouffe owner staring at his Big Mac?
Would somebody kindly tell him that already, 41 hitters have at least 10 doubles...
Only five hitters have at least 10 homers....
Incredibly, Will Venable has not stolen a base....
Not as incredibly, neither has Josh Thole...
Yet, both have been caught stealing three times....
The Tortoise and the hare both losing....
