It's great! We are in round 36 and Mike the Mouth has been picking round 36 type of players for 15 rounds now. Lots of good drafters (including Mike of course !!). Kind of fun not having a "blue print" of where guys go. I like that part of it. Can't say I really like being this far away from the season though. I suppose it works both ways but I am feeling these teams have a disadvantage in the overall compared to later teams. Doughy will argue otherwise I am sure .

That said, I do think there are some nice things about drafting early. One is that this season is still fresh in our minds.
Fantasy drafters are subject to paranoia.
Over time, we can talk ourselves into anything. Like, David Wright will be 'himself' next year.
Right now, we know there is close to zero chance of that happening.
But given time and some writers delusion that Wright will go back to his glory years......
We start believing it.....and we start moving him up lists......and we draft him again.....and then, wonder why we drafted him again.
It's brutal.
The worst advice we could possibly receive is advice from ourselves that has changed over time.

I'm loving this first 50-rounder. Although many of us strive to avoid being overly influenced ADP, there is nothing like drafting when there is no ADP whatsoever. You truly don't know when certain guys will be drafted. (I'm sure Dan, if he wants, could pick out a few examples where most other folks probably would be at least 3-5 rounds off, up or down, in guessing when certain guys went off the board.) I just think it is really interesting when fellow players that I respect a lot seem to value certain players very differently than myself at this early stage. When that happens, I'll frequently go back and look at that player again. Sometimes I'll agree and adjust my early rankings, and other times I'll decide (for better or worse) that I like my ranking better and the other player simply is "off" on a particular player.

In terms of competing for the overall, I'm not sure drafting this early is a positive or a negative because all 15 of us are in the same boat. Players may change teams or roles, or get hurt, etc., between now and February, but at that time everyone else drafting also will be on a level playing field in terms of that knowledge. For instance, a team may make a setup guy a closer in February for some reason. That may hurt one of us who drafted the former closer now in Round 12 whereas no one drafting in February would do that. It works both ways, however, because in my example, one of us may have drafted the setup-guy-turned-closer in Round 30 whereas he doesn't get past Round 12 in February. To me, this just presents a different challenge in terms of drafting with limited knowledge. Do you pay more for certain players because their teams and roles are more secure? Do you focus on guys more likely to make it to April (and beyond) without getting hurt? Do you draft extra [insert position] because of the uncertainty? At least, that's how I see it.

dan- regarding wright- the mets are going to move the fences in to more mimic the yankees right field. the fences are going to be 290-300 feet from home all around the park. most met players feel they can hit 15 homers apiece in that environment- including wright.
