15 Different Draft Thoughts

(First round picks from the PreMature)
Thoughts that may have run through our heads with each first round pick....
1.
YAHOO! I GOT THE FIRST PICK! I get Trout!
Wait a minute, Trout didn't steal as many bases this year. Is there somebody else?
Oh, what am I doing?
I HAVE to take Trout!
He's number one!
Just the same, I wish Sciosia had the sense to hit him third. What a dumbass.
Still, what am I gonna do? Take Kershaw? McCutchen? Stanton? Cabrera?
Cabrera's on his way down, Trout's on his way up.
I'm overthinking this.
"I select Mike Trout with the first pick of the draft!"
2.
I HATE THE SECOND PICK! It's like there is a Corvette and 500 '4 doors' and I have to pick one of the '4 doors' !
Last year Cabrera and Goldy were the picks. Now, Kershaw has moved up in my estimation and I can't forget Stanton or McCutchen.
You know what? I'm not over thinking this. I'm deciding between the King of pitchers and everybody else.
King of pitchers it is, dammit.
"I take Clayton Kershaw with the second pick!"

I HATE THE THIRD PICK!
I've got two outfielders and two first basemen to consider. I guess I could even add Abreu to the mix. But I'm not in love with spending a first round pick on a one year guy. Really, Stanton and Goldy don't have much of a resme themselves for being a top five pick.
I like a sure thing.
I like stablity.
I don't care that his power went down this year. I'm taking Miggy.
"With the third pick of the draft, I take Miguel Cabrera"

I HATE THE FOURTH PICK!
It's like not even getting the bronze metal!
Ok, three names for me. McCutchen, Stanton, and Goldschmidt.
ARRRGGHH!
I hate this!
I like them all!
If I had the sixth pick, I wouldn't have to make a choice!
Crrraaap!
Screw it. Goldschmidt was having a good year before getting hurt. I'll just take him.

I hate this pick!
I'm a Pirates fan! I should take McCutchen.
At the same time, Stanton is the player I want. He can hit a ball out of Jellystone Park!
Sorry Cutch, I gotta go with the comic book kind of power here. I've gotta take 'Lil Abner', 'Bam Bam', Paul Bunyan, Giancarlo, whatever we wanna call him.....

I was soooo hoping one of those top guys would drop to me.
I like Abreu, Adam Jones, and Altuve, and maybe even Carlos Gomez.
You know what?
The other three can all run, I'm going for the guy who will get me 35-40 homers

Right in the middle of sublime and lemons!
I'm just going to go with the best athlete.
I like Jones, Gomez, Altuve, Brantley, and Ellsbury.
Of those guys, I have to take the guy that'll give me hr/sb numbers.
I'm going Gomez.

9. I HATE THIS PICK!
I wanted power and Abreu is gone. I don't care about speed, I'm winning this league with power.
It's too early for Cruz. I don't trust Tulo or Braun.
Hmmmm, Bautista or Encarnacion.
Screw it.
"I take Jose Bautista with the ninth pick!"
10.I LOVE THIS PICK!
I was hoping Jones would fall to me.
No sweat. Don't over think it. Just take him.
"I take Adam Jones with the tenth pick.
11.
I HATE THIS PICK!
I wanted a top pick. Somebody with a lot of power and speed. Those guys are gone.
So, now I have to look for one or the other or a boring mix of both.
Aw, to heck with it. I'm going with a juicer who never gets caught.
"With the eleventh pick of the first round, I take Edwin Encarnacion!"

I HATE THIS PICK!
I'm already thinking about the second round. Last year, this pick would have been easy. I'd take Ellsbury. But now I know that Yankee Stadium is not really furthering his home run power.
Besides, he puts himself in injury prone positions.
Well crap.
I've loved seeing this guy play all year and told myself that I'd have to draft him on at least one team.
It may as well be now.....
"I'll take Michael Brantley with the twelfth pick."

But you know what?
Every guy that has been picked this draft has been a first basemen, outfielder, or pitcher. I'm getting a head start on a more shallower position.
Let's see. Tulo? Hanley? Altuve? Cano?
Yeah, Cano.
"13th pick of the first round is Robby Cano!"

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS PICK!
I wanted the best athlete and that's hard to find at the bottom of the draft.
I've got a feeling about Hanley next year, but I want to see where he goes without taking him.
I want Altuve, but I think he'll make it back to me.
Ellsbury is the best athlete on the board. Maybe he'll get more homers next year at Yankee Stadium with a full year under his belt.
"I'll take Jacoby Ellsbury with the 14th pick!"

Ah crap, it's not that bad.
I get two players and the last three or four picked players could have just as well gone in the second round.
There is no doubt in my mind who the best catcher on the Board is. He's sticking out like a sore thumb.
Gotta take him.
