Many Have Asked.....So Here It Is.....

For some reason, I have been getting more e-mails about Dayton Moore and his Kansas City Royals than I can shake a stick at.
The Royals have made it to the World Series and most of the e-mails had fun reminding me of that fact
The truth is, I have rooted for the Royals since their recent hot streak. It is hard not to.
They are playing a brand of ball that everybody enjoys. And they are teaching baseball fans and broadcasters alike that games can be won without the use of a home run.
Maybe it is my locality, but the Royals remind most here of the 2007 Rockies. They got hot as a pistol when entering the playoffs and looked unbeatable in sweeping series. Then, they had a long wait till playing the Red Sox and the Red Sox swept them handily. I hope that this does not happen to the Royals. The wait should not be a factor since the Giants have already won their series.
So, has my opinion changed of Dayton Moore?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Dayton Moore is very good at analysing minor league talent. Damn good at it.
He would make a very good head of a minor league system somewhere. But as far as being a General Manager in making decisions at the top level, I still find him as one of the worst in doing so.
I know that the Royals are in the World Series. I know that Dayton Moore is getting accolades. The media has crowned him a Prince, I think.
He is having his day. And I give him his day. I'm not going to say he was lucky. I'm not going to say it was undeserved.
Royals fans should enjoy the team and root hard for them to be World Series winners.
It didn't happen for the Rockies, but it could for the Royals.
When the Rockies got hot in the playoffs, I believe baseball analysts decreed that Dan O'Dowd was an Einstein among General Managers. That was then and this is now. Now, most think of O'Dowd as closer to Maynard G Krebs than Einstein.
O'Dowd was also a good talent evaluater and not good at most other things. Since that World Series appearance in '07, O'Dowd teams got back to the playoffs once and had five seasons of well under .500 baseball.
Royals Management will probably reward Moore with a lengthy contract. It'll be bad for Royals fans. The Royals will be without high draft picks that Moore used in his wheelhouse, being a talent seeker. Without those type of players, the Royals future becomes murky. They will start to lose the players that got them this far as well. The Royals will not be able to afford them.
ENJOY these moments Royals fans.
You deserve it!
You guys have had a long drought and I really do hope the Royals can win it all.
I'll be pulling for them too.
