The First Few Days...

A little lament for the first few days of the season and why we play the game...
On the first day, Hanley had a mighty Slam
The second of two, first a boom, then a bam
Now, not much was made of this clout
But that one hit is the season total for Mike Trout
Carlos Gomez went down fast with a bad and torn hammy
His owners cursed, hoping they'd avoid that whammy
Hawkins, Mejia, Nathan, and Cecil all drafted to be Closers
Their owners found out what others knew...They were just Posers
William Jennings and Anita will have to share their name
With the newest 'hot thing' in the game
Kris Bryant starts his first game today in the Bigs
In a place where port-a-potties should have gigs
Fans remembered to give ARod lusty 'Boo's'
But he's hitting, like he still has some juice
Ryan Braun heard almost nothing from the many faces
That 'nothin'g is in his bat too, not one hit for extra bases
After a few days, some are hoping for a changing of a name
For the best young player in the game
It should not be called 'Rookie of the Year'
They think it should be 'Mookie of the Year'
And who is the best hitter in baseball these first few days?
He's hitting over .500, 11 xtra base hits, only three k's!
He's hitting the tar out of the ball again and again
And still, we know his name more from 'Rocky'. Yo Adrian!
Drafters with injuries, fuss and curse
Thinking nothing else could be worse
Then... they lose their first draft pick
They're up a paddle without a crick
It is part of the reason we play this game
Its a demented torture we all can claim
1 inn, 8 ER? This game really sucks!
Dammit! What a waste of 1600 bucks!
But wait! A shutout and a Save!
It's the comeback that I crave!
5 hrs, 3 sb's, 12 rbi! No more sorrow!
I can't wait to see how this all plays out tomorrow!
