Ampol the Giant

Once upon a time, 239 years ago, a Giant was born. This Giant named Ampol, came out of the womb giant-sized.
Instantly.
And just as instantly, Ampol ruled the earth.
The rest of the earth had no fear of Ampol. They didn't realize how powerful and enormous this Giant was.
Over the years, Ampol the Giant got bigger and bigger. The land he roamed got larger and larger. But, he never went overseas.
Instead, he would send peasants to tell other lands just how big he had become. These representitives would warn Giants from other lands to be good or that they would face the largest Giant ever seen.
Most listened.
Some did not.
So Ampol the Giant joined a war of Giants and SHOWED the other Giants just how powerful he had become.
Other Giants now knew who was boss.
Years later,not learning the lesson, a smaller Giant stirred up trouble and started marching into other Giants lands and took over their lands.
This Giant was in cahoots with another Giant who ambushed Ampol's land. This infuriated Ampol.
Ampol conquered the other two Giants and could have had all the land in the world.
He didn't want it.
Instead, he gave the land back to the little people who lived in those lands and told them to be good people.
Since that time, there have been skirmishes among smaller Giants. Ampol felt compelled to break these fights up.
He did it because he wanted everybody to be nice, but also to show everybody that he was still the largest Giant.
Ampol has conquered the Giants from other lands. Those Giants, knowing how large Ampol has become, are now reduced to sending armies of gnats to anger Ampol in doing smaller scale dastardly acts.
Ampol sees this as cowardly, but instead of flexing his muscles and going to those opposing Giants lands, he also sends fleets of gnats.
At home, Ampol enjoyed watching his busy little people go through their everyday lives.
The busy little people, unknowingly, had given Ampol the Giant more and more power. Whenever in trouble, the busy little people would run to Ampol for help.
Sometimes the busy little people liked Ampol for giving them a hand.
But as you know, if giving somebody a hand, that hand results as a slap to the face of another.
Ampol couldn't help everybody. Helping one busy little people, messed with another.
The busy little people became less and less of a fascination for Ampol the Giant.
In fact, the fascination had turned to irritation.
He would sleep.
He asked the busy little people to only wake him when having larger problems.
And they did.
One time, even ordering some of his peasants to make more money for the busy little people. Ampol the Giant felt that keeping the busy little people happy was best for ALL his people and more importantly to Ampol, allowing more sleep.
When a wrong is a wrong loud enough for Ampol to hear the little people's cries, he is awoken.
Ampol wishes the little people could take care of their own problems. But, he rules the land and must try to make them happy.
He doesn't care as much now about giving somebody a hand now, while slapping somebody else with the other.
All he wants is sleep.
And the busy little people changed their methods because of Ampol's need for sleep.
Now, the busy little people would try to get away with anything possible, unless resulting in the peasants getting too loud in protests.
The busy little people knowing that if those protests got too loud, Ampol the Giant would be awoken and that the results would not be good for the busy little people or even his peasants.
Ampol the Giant has awoken.
