There is possible collusion in the NFBC.
Collusion is the second worst thing that can happen to a fantasy contest. It is two or more members of a league planning and scheming to 'feed' players to one team to make a great team to compete and possibly take first place and a large grand prize in an Overall contest. Then, the conspirators can then split the proceeds once the dirty deed succeeds.
It is similar to a boxer throwing a fight. Similar to some of the Black Sox throwing the 1919 World Series.
It is duping the public into believing everything is on the up and up, when in fact, it is not.
It is early in the process of investigating to see if allegations are true. But, from information gathered including faab tendencies and many family members being a part of the same league, it can only spawn conspiracy theories in our minds.
Collusion is the f word of fantasy sports.
The game is hard enough without finding out we had no chance from the git go.
As said, besides a company absconding with all proceeds, it is the worst thing that can happen in our hobby.
This all being said, there is good coming out of this.
And it is what sets the NFBC apart from all other fantasy enterprises.
The initial report of possible colluding was caught by Joe Berg. Joe has received much abuse and derision in the past. Joe has brought up things in the past that didn't meet his eye of what he felt was right. Others have disagreed and poo-poo'ed Joe.
Whether Joe was right or whether the others thought Joe was full of crap is of no matter here.
A thing of the past.
What DOES matter is that Joe and detracters from the past were able to come together for the common good of the NFBC.
Each knowing that the NFBC is bigger and more important than any one player.
The NFBC has thousands of leagues. We need watchdogs. In most cases, we are those watchdogs. We participate in many leagues and if we see something amiss, we'll let somebody know.
And, we need people who take an interest in other leagues. The NFBC continues to grow by many leagues with each year.
They can't hire somebody to watch each league.
No fantasy company does that.
But, they have us.
Just one last thing.
I love these Boards. Always have.
Most posts are about mundane things such as what is happening to a poster's team. Injuries, under performance, blah-blah.
Some are more combative and there will be personality conflicts.
There has always been a conflict between Joe and KJ.
What made me proud is to see both of them set aside those personal feelings for the good of the NFBC.
No snipes. No innuendo. No bull.
Both of them working 'together' to try and garner more information for the overall good of the NFBC and to prevent collusion.
Just awesome to see.
Both, get a well done and attaboy.
Collusion and the Greater Good
Collusion and the Greater Good
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
Re: Collusion and the Greater Good
Thanks Dan. What has transpired in the last 24 hours is pretty incredible. There has been way more leg work put into this by others than I did. The information continues to roll in, not all of it being posted. One thing we know for sure Is that the right guy runs this company and knows the game as well as anyone. He will get to the bottom of things and rule accordingly.DOUGHBOYS wrote:There is possible collusion in the NFBC.

This would've been uncovered sooner or later, I just happened upon it first.
