Listening To Stupid Sh**

I know you guys are tired of it. I know it.....But I can't help myself...apologies in advance...
Yes, another rant about VALUE.
I could write a book about one word. I probably already have.
VALUE...THE worst word in Fantasy.
It used to be sleeper. Now, most have gotten wise and realize that there are no more sleepers in baseball.
Hell, I'm drooling over picking the middle kid street down the block in 10 years.
THAT'S a sleeper!
Here's what set me off....and I've been stewing about this all week.
I was listening to some fantasy show (by the way, try playing the drinking game using VALUE as your word during any fantasy show...you'll have a buzz after the intro's, drunk before the second segment).
And I hate listening to fantasy shows.
Anyway, a caller calls in and said that he doubted Jordy Nelson. That Aaron Rodgers wasn't playing very well and that Nelson has not looked the same since he's been back.
The host railed at the caller.
"What other receiver do you own that has more VALUE than Jordy Nelson? Are you kidding me? You are thinking about benching a player who was taken in the first two rounds of every yearly draft?"
He then went on a binge about fantasy players giving up on their 'best' players too soon....
He's lucky I wasn't the caller. You know that feeling you get when somebody is talking and the only thing worse he could have said is the next sentence then the next sentence, then the next?
I would have let this guy have it. The caller did not.
He explained that he had Golden Tate, TY Hilton, and Tavon Austin.
The host said he would play Nelson before any of those players.
That Nelson's VALUE was much higher than that of his other receivers.
Ugh.
So, I watch with anticipation Thursday night to see what Jordy Nelson would do.
1 catch.
Nine yards.
The caller had every right to call in concerned with Nelson.
The host played the VALUE game.
I'll say it now and I'll say it again and again, NO player has VALUE till the VALUE is recorded.
The way this host and every host uses the word VALUE now is completely and utterly wrong!
VALUE is TY Hilton scoring two touchdowns with a bunch of yards!
VALUE would have been sitting Jordy Nelson.
For hosts, VALUE is the slottation (made up word) of players.
It is mostly made up of adp.
Adp assesses a VALUE on players.
It's fictitious.
Jonathon Villar had no VALUE last year. UNTIL, he did.
Neither did Trevor Story, or Trea Turner, or Gary Sanchez.
Each of these players, buried in our adp.
Instead we were taking McCutchen and Tulo and Bautista. THERES THE VALUE!
VALUE for a radio host, or anybody really, is saying that this guy is better than this guy.
Or this guy is better than most think.
Value is dictated by his own mind or adp.
Nothing else.
VALUE, my ass!
If wanting to bench Jordy Nelson because he sucks, dammit, bench Jordy Nelson!
If wanting to bench Jason Heyward because he sucks, bench Jason Heyward.
Do what is best for you. Do what is best for your team.
Don't make decisions in the name of VALUE!

VALUE is never used when it should be. AFTER the fact.
Instead, these hack hosts try to assign VALUE.
Instead of saying, "this player is better than this player"...they say, "This player has more VALUE than this player"
Makes them sound smart.
Makes it appear more as fact, rather than opinion.
It's not.
