One of my favorite drafts of the year is the PreMature E-Draftulation Draft. To tell the truth, I initiated this draft years ago. Mostly, because I hated the thought of not drafting again till February of the next year. It's an e-mail draft of 30 rounds. We have never had a 'glitch'. We have hardly had a peep about a drafter taking too much time to draft. And that is without ANY clock ticking down.

What I love most about this premier draft of the season, is that there are no magazines, no experts, and absolutely no ADP to give us drafters any direction at all.
It is just us and our drafting moxie.
What we have is 15 drafters blazing a trail for ADP.
And a damned good job we do, if I do say so myself.
Here is our first round from October...

1. Trout
2. Betts
3. Acuna
4. Ramirez
5. Lindor
6. Scherzer
7. Altuve
8. Turner
9. Martinez
10. Yelich
11. Baez
12. Bregman
13. Arenado
14. Machado
15. Harper

It looks like a draft, any draft that would be posted today.
Still, grief was given to the drafters of Acuna and Baez as being 'Way too soon'.
Yet, there they are today, both with first round ADP's.

If you'll notice at the beginning of the drafting season, no veteran NFBC drafter wonders where the ADP can be found.
Veteran drafters only use ADP to see where 'the herd' or even 'the flock' are directing their picks.
They use this information to see how much 'they can get away with' in obtaining 'their players'.
The later the better.
Newbie drafters will use ADP differently.
They see it as 'something to beat'...or the dreaded 'value pick'.
As stated many times, ADP is made up of 94 percent losing drafters, six percent of winners.
Veteran drafters know that. Newbies, not so much.

Now, I don't know how many of you folks bother to look at the 'chat' under 'contests'.
That chat is mostly for those new to the NFBC.
Besides asking about contests interested in, do you know what question is brought up on a constant basis?
"When will 'Average Auction Value (AAV) be available?"
Seriously.
AAV is available in the draft room, but not out for public view.
These new drafters 'needing' this info before entering the draft.
Veterans are going to win these auctions.
Book it.

To me, AAV mean less than ADP. (I counted, there are 1,420,456 different letter combinations being used by fantasy baseball drafters)
(I lie too)
Auctions are a place where we can get the player we want.
We know going into ANY auction that Trout and Betts are going to be expensive.
Like $50 expensive.
Does it matter if AAV is $48 or $52?
The rest of the players gradually go down in price.
I'ts not rocket science.
It means smaller than ADP also because players going in the last few rounds of bidding can go for one dollar because of finances.
In other drafts, this one dollar player can go for $12 with different financing of just two teams.
What does a $6 AAV for the player matter?
It's a crutch that should be FAR down our list of asks.
Yet, there it is everyday in chat.
The good side of this is that we are seeing a good influx of new drafters to the NFBC :D
