Mostly Pitching Stuff

Tim Tebow is hitting .149 with one homer. 65 strike outs in 150 at bats.
It's too bad. I would have liked for the Mets to have yet another side show this year.
This is not to say that Tebow won't be called up.
The Mets are not above having somebody on their roster that can't hit. Right, Juan Lagares?
Lagares is hitting (missing?) .189 this year.
The Mets are a riot.
Mets fans wanted Syndergaard to pitch like De Grom. Instead it is deGrom pitching like Syndergaard.
Syndergaard has become the heartbeat of the Mets in that we never know what to expect from them.
But, odds are, it will be humorous.
Three months later, is Edwin Diaz worth that Cano contract?
Me neither.

Yordan Alvarez will probably have large bids made on him this Sunday.
We think we're so smart when it comes to baseball.
Tell me, how many DC teams rostered Yordan Alvarez?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Didi Gregorius is in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets.
Gregorius got some rest on Sunday, but he's back in there following Monday's rainout. He'll probably rest for the nightcap.'

....OR.....He is facing the righty and sitting against the lefty....Quit it with the 'rest' bit, willya?
Give 'rest' a rest.

(Continued here since these Message Boards bite the big one when it comes to usage....
I believe the only reason we keep thse Boards is because the designer's are legendary....
You may have heard of them....Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble......
Antiquated would be a compliment...but they're free! Woot! Woot!
Besides my 'Stuff', it is no wonder these Boards have become just a Sandwich Board in advertisements for leagues...
Some folks try participating but have these Boards not cooperate.
Some folks want to get on, but do not want to ask for help in how to do it.
They would need help from GTD to participate. Why make it so difficult? What's the use? I digress.
I am grateful for the venue, but the stage is rotting beneath me and although the NFBC is growing, participation here is shrinking.
I guess I lied when 'digressing' earlier :)
(Thanks for the listen)

Max Scherzer, Chris Sale, and Jacob deGrom, combined, have the same Wins as Lucas Giolito (9).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Five pitchers on the Tampa Bay Rays have more Wins than Blake Snell. Five.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last years Wins leaders....
Snell- 21
Kluber- 20
Severino- 19

Combined, they probably will not get 20 Wins this year....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

37 of 85 qualified starting pitchers are averaging a strike out per inning.
Almost half.
Remember when it was a thing?

Here is the trend....

2016- 16
2017- 20
2018- 23
2019- 37!

Most of the pitchers are the same each year.
The hitters, selling out more than ever for home runs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lead off hitters have hit six homers off Trevor Bauer.
Batters 2-9 in the lineup have combined for seven off Bauer.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is it possible for a pitcher to improve an ERA by over four runs?
Yep.
5.12 Last year
1.04 This year
Shane Greene
We all knew that would happen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We think of 'rallies' as a good thing when trying to beat a pitcher.
Don't try it against Justin Verlander.
In 14 Starts, Verlander has given up six rbi to 'rallies'. Six. In 14 Starts.
Verlander has 'allowed' (is it really 'allowing' if not wanting to allow something?) the other 16 runs on 14 home runs.
12 Solo blasts. Two, with one runner on base.
Verlander leads baseball with a .151 BAA

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We want our hitters to face Yu Darvish.
Yu Darvish is on his way to a 30/30 season.
He has been raked and ransacked for 13 homers and 15 stolen bases.

The last time a pitcher had a 30-30 season was Gavin Floyd in 2008 (30-37)

Two years earlier, in 2006, Freddy Garcia had a 30-40 season with the White Sox (32-40).

In 2001, Hideo Nomo had a 26-52 year.
