Baseball Jones

I need a baseball shrink. A regular shrink wouldn't know what to do with me.
As fantasy players, DIE HARD FANTASY PLAYERS, how do we get across the void in our lives to family and friends?
If you're like me, we don't even bring it up.
Instead, we just go through our days with an empty feeling.
If bringing it up to friends or family, we would give them the feeling that they are not filling that emptiness.
Nor could we ever expect them too.
We know it's not them. It's us.

I'm reduced to watching silly tv shows and stupid movies a lot.
I can't watch baseball movies. It only makes things worse for me.
Just in writing that last line, I could see the sparks fly off the light tower after being struck from a ball that came from 'Wonderboy'.
And I can hear 'If you build it, he will come' plain as day.

I was watching a kids movie with my Grandson the other day.
In one scene, a child's mother dies.
The Father explained to the child that her mother had gone with the angels.
It made me wonder how Mike Trout was doing.
Could Joe Maddon do something with that club?
Why did they spend all that money on Anthony Rendon when pitching has clearly been their problem?
And....at that moment I was jarred out of my baseball haze by my Grandson..."Papa! Papa!"
"I'm sorry, what did you say?
"I said, How Sad!"
I could only agree.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
