Life After the NFBC

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Sat Jul 10, 2021 10:14 am

I love the NFBC. I can't fathom somebody being more passionate then myself when it comes to the NFBC.
And if you're reading this, you're probably thinking the same thing about yourself. We're a passionate bunch!
I really don't know how I'd pass my time without the NFBC.
My guess is that I would play more online poker and maybe some daily fantasy.
Neither of which would occupy my mind even close to what our game does.

The NFBC has been the first thing on my mind when getting up and usually the last thing before going to bed.
I love the mind play of all the different facets of the game.
But now, I have to brace for this being all taken away.

Connecticut passed a law to the exclusion of the season long game.
Politicians talk.
It won't be long before these short-sighted sombitches take the same action in other states.
We already have a short list of states that can't play our game.
Others are sure to follow.
The NFBC and Fanball are already paying exorbitant fees to the states that we can play in.
We absorb some of those fees with a $5 fee for each league, but it can't be close to covering the cost.

I hated it when FD and DK burst onto the fantasy scene.
The daily game, to me, doesn't hold a candle to the season long game.
Greg, steadfastly backed the offerings of FD and DK.
He felt the more folks in the fantasy family the better.
I disagreed.
We bastardize baseball stats.
The daily game bastardizes the season long game.
When FD and DK started an advertising blitz, it screwed the fantasy game.
It got the attention of politicians.
Nobody wants to be the attention of politicians.
And since, we have all suffered.

The suffering isn't over.
It's going to get worse.
More states are going to go the wrong direction when it comes to our game.
Politicians can't/won't distinguish between the season long game and the daily game.
Other states will follow Connecticut. It is sure to happen.
Politicians are all about money and power.
They have the power over our enjoyment of our season long game.
The power is in the wrong hands.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

I agree 100% Dan. Season long is so much better than daily. And the situation may get worse. Bloody politicians always stick their nose in anything good. I don't really understand how baseball fans could be more interested in daily than season long. Night and day.
Rogers Hornsby, Hall of Famer with the Cardinals was once asked " You love Baseball Rogers, but what do you do in the winter ? " His response......"I stare out the window and wait for spring "
