Brian, how did O.Perez do today? I had to look since you brought it up. Hope Randy stays healthy for you. Great pick if he does... Liked the Milledge and Pie picks also...

Had to laugh in the Super when I picked 6th again, and KofQ took Peavy at 7 and bragged like he stole my pick. Sorry, but Peavy was the last guy on my Rd 2 list. This league did a better job of taking both Vlad and Berkman first.

Although it worked out well here, as all the SP's I wanted Rd 6 went before me like Dice, Kazmir and Harang.

I'm at pick 25, and will take him if he falls..

The highest I would have gone predraft was Verlander in Rd 4. really liked him there, but I knew that was only about 10% chance...

I was really bummed when Berkman went. When Beltran went at 2.11 to Eddie, I thought I'd get him.

I wanted Garko rd 10, but I knew if I had Berkman, I could slide him into 1B if I didn't get Garko.

I am torn in that league and hope for a 4 way tie for first between Kevin, Lance, Brian, and Eddie all are great guys. Hey Kent, enjoyed meeting you as well, good luck in your lge - have you put up your roster yet?

Brian seemed more than a little stressed out at the draft, I'm sure there's a story there as he showed up last minute - will be interesting to see if he can manage his way to the top as his draft didn't go as expected, and I couldn't call him the favorite after looking over the draft results.

Lance and Eddie, nice talking with you guys too. I have you both in the top 5 exiting the draft. Nice job drafting.

UFS, good seeing you as always, and your partner Mr Laptop. :D :D I just hope your luck isn't quite as good in this league as it was on the races Friday night. By the way, how many guys did I take way too early this time ???

KJ, my luck was even better at poker Sat nite. Won $750. :D Almost a Freeroll for the Main :D

The laptop battery is so bad, It was barely used.

Brian's stress story? It took way too long for his toast to come out. I heard him swearing about this while his buddy was finishing his short stack of pancakes :D

KJ.... Only Conor Jackson, but like you said, you needed to there.

Everyone has to reach around then to fill a need..

I took Josh and Chad B a round before I wanted to, but the draft dictated that I had to...

I wanted Maine in rd 8, but he went Rd 7...

OK…back to normal…fully recovered!!! (and drinking a green Guinness!)

The noon flight to Vegas was awesome…the morning sprinkle left the skies crystal clear, and the direction we took off, followed by a sweeping slow turn (and being on the down side of the turn, with a window seat, and nobody in the middle seat was perfect)…I got a beautiful view of the area I’ve lived my whole life…all the ballparks I played at as a kid, the schools, the parks, the bridges, etc…it was killer. The low hanging white clouds just added to what was an entertaining departure. Then not long after, to see snow covered mountains was also a surprise.

I hit my over/under of 2:35pm poolside at the Flamingo almost on the dot! Rum Runner and a couple “Coronas” for Greg and Chris in hand, and an open seat to relax was a nice beginning. Those Wisconsin boys were far from virgin white after the time they stayed in Arizona not long ago, looking more like California boys than myself…and the beers looked like just what they needed!

Hanging about the sportsbook was common for me, where during the 3 nights I got to mingle with Eddie and Dom, Sir Childs, John (UFS…who seemed to do no wrong on the ponies the first night), Andy and Chris (stevieland…very good guys), my man Kent (Chesty) , Randy (Latham…very nice guy…reminded me of Tim Robbins), Emmett and his crew, Terry “Dork Dad” Haney, Bob “Dr. Samodabragia” (Spartacus), John (Walla Walla), Rick Thomas, and quite a few others that I’m too poor with names to recall.

Fun dinner at the Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, with Greg, Chris, Jill, Randy, Jules, John and Rick! Ditto to what Jules posted! I loved the “50” balloon hat from the stiltman, and enjoyed our waitress Gina…I kept calling her Edna or “E” on purpose for fun…so she just called me Steve. Had to love the hottie blender girl watersliding down the Volcano into the big Margarita glass, and then spinning from table to table. (I THINK it was the same girl?) The drinking never stopped for me THU night…and I felt it FRI morning…ouchy. I was a good boy FRI night because I knew I could not draft in the shape I was in Friday morning. I had a couple drinks, took a few peeks in at the auctions, hung around placing NCAA bets (Greg was correct…that was one hell of a weekend for basketball betting…games going off the board all day long, and up until even as late as 8:30pm there were still games to bet on!!!...heaven!)

Checked out Sat morning, and off to the big dance!!! I got to spend more time with “Uncle Dan” Kenyon (great guy), as well as meeting KJ Duke (another cool guy…and nice looking couple), Brian (bjoak) finally made his appearance! My next door drafter Jack Lyons was a perfect gentleman, as was Kelly and his draft partner, and I got to meet Hard Head (another tall sucker!), and Steve (Nevadaman)…feels better knowing I lost a bet to a good guy! Faces from the magazines were everywhere, and my league did not disappoint when it came to value stealing. Plenty of “damns” and “shits” going off in my mind…but I plugged away an OK team. I’d trade my team in a heartbeat with another “pick 5” I saw (Giant Bums) talking with Chest. I was proud of myself for waiting until post draft to drink (first time EVER), and in reality…I had enough trouble keeping up sober. Mental notes were made on a better prep plan for 2009, with a longer cheatsheet!

A nice post-draft meal with Dan and Kent and Brian…and then the drinking began! (actually I think I was double fisted most of the time post draft!) I almost got to see a fist fight over cigarette smoke at the sportsbook on SAT…but cooler heads prevailed knowing a jail cell was nearby should they escalate past verbal shots…but it got pretty good! Overall…the sportsbook made the entire trip cost 80 bucks! (Thanks in large part to PIT and GEO moneyline, and a few well placed over and under bets. )

The line for the red-eye was LONG!!! (and outdoors…and cold!) I could not believe a midnight flight OUT of VEGAS on a SAT NIGHT would have so many people in line. I barely made my flight…and the hangover seemed to kick in around 11:30pm. I think I snored myself awake like 10 times on the short flight home (and once again…I had nobody sitting beside me…lucky them!!!)…and the wait for my baggage seemed like an hour with my feet tired and in need of water.

All in all, a great weekend in Vegas. Sunny every day…better than the weather reports. I got to see some bikinis in March…gamble with a fun crowd, and compete in THE fantasy baseball event! (key word this year is compete, rather than donate)

The Baseball Mafia with Eddie and Dom, Shawn Childs, and Jesse and Dustin will have their hands full with the new “crews” trying to set up shop on the same turf. Word of a “Win Syndicate” moving into town, with Dan, Kent, Andy and Chris is sweeping through the city. There was also lots of talk of a “Luck Incorporated” crew (Jules, RT, Hook and UFS) trying to take over a street corner here and a street corner there…so be on the lookout, Mafia!!!

Yes, my story is they took forever on the breakfast, then I went back up to my room for a sec and the maid had to let me in on account of I grabbed the ridiculously expensive ESPN gaming card rather than my room key on the way out. Then, Friday night I realized I forgot my pitcher worksheet at home--the one I put the results into. So I rebuilt it...and forgot to save it, which I didn't know until about ten seconds before the draft started. So like I said I rebuilt it during rounds 1 and 2.

I'm sure Tulo's adp is past 2.14. I can make any kind of side bet on that with KoQ that he would like.

No one likes my drafts before I beat them.

Yeah, I'd have taken Perez if this start came before the draft. I never thought there was something wrong with him--just afraid there might be. I am happy with Johnson, tho.

That was an interesting point you brought up about him. I just chalk that stuff up to building up arm strength and only really care about watching the stats of a few rookies/position battles during the spring.

[/qb]
Pujols went maybe 20th, luckily by the same guy who got Lackey.[/QB]
I find nothing lucky about this and wish the poor guy stuck with Lackey a quick recovery and amazing luck from the rest of his SP.

~Lance Whatever it takes to help me overcome finding out in the 23rd rd my 5th rounder is a gimp. I figure I am the only one that will give myself any sympathy anyway.

So he (you??) should have known Lackey would get injured or was already? Debatable. Seems like someone in every league got sacked with him.

Wow, I am finding a lot of guys in this league have already decided my fate and are letting everyone know about it. Let's wait till they play a few games. I had a balanced team where I reached a few times every year. I heard this story every year.

I think you misinterpreted my post. I personally dont find it lucky for my team that I matched Pujols with Lackey. You on the otherhand would since it benefits you and the rest of the league. I was not commenting on my prescient abilities.

As for people not giving you a shot (who cares anyway) I dont know as I havnt had a chance to look at the teams since I just got back from LV last night and am still in no condition to read more than this board. I do know that in my previous two main events I was unimpressed in the beginning with both teams that kicked my butt by the end.

I just wanted to give a heads up on a prediction of mine that eventually, rotoworld will give out articles one paragraph at a time...followed by 20 clicks, and 20 different pages of advertisements for what used to fit on one long page that was easy to scroll down and read.

Here's the evidence...

www.rotoworld.com/content/features/colu ... leid=30062

The quality of the article has not improved...but it now requires 6 different clicks and page loads to read!

They're well on their way!!!

Well it's back to reality after getting back from Vegas yesterday. It was a lot of fun meeting everyone at the draft (and at The Sportsbook and Margarataville as well). It was nice hanging out getting to know many of you, should make for a fun season! Lance, next time I need to have a few more drinks with you!! Good luck to everyone this season and let's get this thing started!

I just found out I'm heading back to Vegas for a 5-day conference in early April. Who want's to meet at the Luxor sportsbook for a week-one-of-the-season review?
