Kevin D - Glad you've got such confidence. Will certainly make for an active forum this year. You're goin way over my head with the extra $K though. I emptied 'Miss Piggy' to scrape up enough for my entry fee.... Actually the league owners page indicates that mr. hermsmeier hasn't accessed the NFBC site since 3/26, so he probably doesn't know that we've read his remarks. I hope for some type of response when he does catch up on league correspondance, but doubt we will really hear from him. I won't be able to help but go back to their message board looking for more entertainment material, though. It's too amusing over there not to take a look from time to time.
[/QUOTE]Looks like the Tampa BBT team must be keeping tabs on the discussion here. Here's a link from today's discussions over there.

I'll take Kevin D's wager a bit further. I'll offer 5-to-1 odds to the owners of Baseballtangent.com that their team does NOT win this league. Name your amount. $100 gets you $500. $1,000 gets you $5,000. Bring it on.

Since these folks have already identified themselves as the best of 4 teams that are a cut above the rest (i.e. 11 owners have already made a $1,250 contribution), the 5-to-1 odds should be much more than sufficient.

If you decide to not take the offer, can you at least end the suspense for these 11 teams so they don't have to waste the next 6 months of their lives?

Sounds like at least one of them is mulling this offer on BaseballTangent. However, there appears to be some concern about their ability to collect if (ahem, I mean WHEN) they win -- I assume everyone here can vouch for my integrity...

Best pickup of the week If you settle for mediocre players, soon you will become mediocre unless you already are. I don't think anyone was looking for a guy that was going to play two times this week.

Fantasy baseball can be as cruel as the real game. An expiring expert repesenting at Baseball Tangent arrived in New York for a chance to compete for the $100,000 prize in the NFBC. Upon his return to his home tuff, he shared his experiences with his fellow followers on his home message boards. Feeling good about his draft, he spoke about how well he had done and his stategy. He felt like an expert which a guess we all are if we are playing at such a high level. So as he named his team baseballtangent.com, he invited the NFBC players into his world. What is basaeballtangent the players ask themselves? The players bored with no baseball action searched. They found out they were beaten by a better man. In the other world, there was a top dog. The veteran players were amused by his antics. So when the player step into the batters box of the big leagues, he didn't know there already was a king out there. He was standing on the mound getting ready to throw some chin music and knock him down. Being a rookie, will he walk back to the dugout with his pickle between his legs or will he see this as a war. We have just begun to battle. The are no free pick ups. You fight and scratch for every player. You can't fix every problem. You don't win it at the draft table, but you sure can lose it there. So I ask you, is Kevin Hermsmeier here only for a cup of coffee in the big leagues? Or will he go home to his followers regroup and bring more players to challenge the king in future years!!

Are the MB responses over there at BBT for real???

I am far from being an expert in baseball, but I know when I see a team who doesn't have a chance....and that is what I see when I look at the BBT from NY.

I would be shocked if they didn't finish in the bottom 5 of the league. They have no chance whatsoever.

The Tampa team BBT South has more of a chance, but still don't see them contending either.

And are the followers 14 year olds, who go off of the past 1-2 years stats? The responses they have received about their team is beyond funny.

And, I might be a tad bit anal, but how do so called "experts" fail to correctly spell players names?? I am guessing they had a hard time pronouncing some of them as well. Conner-ko, Log-an...

You guys have fun with them, should make for an interesting year in your league!

Also, to those who haven't checked out Baseballtangent.com recently, they now have a Forum devoted to "NCFB Strategy and Discussion" (that's their typo, not mine). Unfortunately, it's password protected--I would love to see how they plan on making up their deficit in 5 categories (SB, W, ERA, WHIP, K).

the tangent crew will likely get put through the grinder this year (along with hundreds of other teams). i'm sure they'll have excuses why they didn't perform well (as many other teams do). yawn...

You yawn...I laugh.

I see a big mouthed cocky team that will be spoon-fed reality as they place bottom half of their league.

You and I have no success in the NFBC...so I guess we both have nothing to offer.

You are most likely sensitive to the betting part...something you haven't shown the balls to do. (Doesn't mean you don't have...just haven't shown)

As for entertainment value...we are all on the same playing field.
