What are your team names? I don't think we can view them on the league page yet.

From the other thread: I wasn't thinking you were 35. I saw you were 33 on the getting to know you. I'm 29. I think.

I hope the other guys in our league are working as hard on putting together good teams as they are on getting to know us and contributing to the message board. Hopefully, they'll come out of their shells after a drink or two at the reception.

Hello gentlemen, Dan Fallon here. Just wanted to introduce myself. I am sure I have done a bunch of mock drafts with most of you. Its a pleasure to have two of the most active message board posters in this league. My work, law school and girlfriend have all taken a back seat to preparing for this draft. As of this moment, I know who starts, who doesnt, where he bats, who he bats in front of, who bats behind him, what the park is like, who the manager is, how he likes to run, who is hot, who is not, who is a sleeper and who is in a coma, who has been naughty, who hasnt. blah, blah, blah. If you guys are as prepared as I know you are, you better concentrate on getting your guys in even rounds because unless i come down with rookie fever and start halucinating, I wont miss him.(whoever HE is at the time).

Oh, you won't even know you should want him, prepared or not. And you'll make fun of me, at first, just like everyone made fun of me for Vinny Castilla last year. And Brandon Webb. Second thoughts, scratch Webb.

It is true that I shouldn't be complaining about how many people post. Dyv and I could run a board on our own.

My work, law school and girlfriend have all taken a back seat to preparing for this draft. I might as well just tell you that I now have your job and your girlfriend. And I'm probably going to win anyway. Sorry.

Well, there are days you can have my girlfriend and if people were laughing at you for taking vinny castilla last year, i dont blame you for thinking they were idiots, unless you took him in the first round. You could have Webb. I will let you have him this year too if you want. Just let me know. All I ask in return is for you to let one of his teammates to slide back down to me.

You can have Webb and all his teammates and Vinny Castilla as well if you want. I don't think I have any of them in my plans, even in any of my contingency picks. Sincerely.

I'd probably take Scott Hairston but the Diamondbacks are so dumb, he may not even make the team. So it goes.

I am thinking about punting power. I think steroids have ruined baseball and I'm going to protest the use of power-stat-enhancing drugs by boycotting those categories.

That's the best news I've heard all day.

A friend of mine thinks he'd be better off going after average strong guys because of the power drop-off that could come this year. Certainly, little came of those same sorts of rumors last year. But we'll see.

Any chance one of the veterans of this league has the scoop on where each of you finished last year in this thing, let us see what we are in for?

Also, is everyone going to the welcome thing Friday night? :D

Worm, you can search the last name of each person in the league up top. The 'Who is coming to the NFBC this year category" will come up for each person and you can see the intro Greg gave to everyone, in which he usually mentioned which place people came in if they played last year. Oddly, I already did this and you were the only one who didn't come up!?

Dyv and I and probably most others will be there on Friday.

Hi gang. Great draft! Hey I was going over the results and I found that 2 teams, #8 and #14 both had Snyder listed as its catcher. I could have made a mistake, so hopefully someone else can double check it, but I think one of them may have to pick a different crappy catcher. I think Matheny is still available.

Anyone have the results for my team here? I had to bug out of Vegas on an emergency and left everything from my draft stuff behind. (My daughter is okay... for those concerned.. thank you)

I remember about 90% of my squad, but a few holes left.

Anyone who can post it or email it (or the draft if you have it) to: [email protected]

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,

Dave

C Olivo (no name catcher)

C Todd Greene (will get 100 AB's this year)

1B Delgado (will hit .250 for two months before hitting dl)

3B Lowell (will slump all year)

CI Blake (will hit 28 homers with a .220 average)

CI Vinny Castilla (will hit .220 now that he left Colarado--on the bright side look at all the stolen bases you'll get)

2B Jimenez (hahahaha)

C Guillen (will never again see 2004 success)

MI Wigginton (ibid Jimenez)

OFAbreu (will revert to the every other year 20 homers, though he is hitting .184 in spring training, so that's a good sign)

OF Bonds (out for year with old knee)

OF Sheffield (will hit himself in head while wagging bat--season ending head injury)

OF Berkman (see you in July!)

OF Luis Gonzalez (will probably get back to hitting 50 homers this year::snicker)

OF Ibanez (good for a .300 average--and 2 home runs)

OF Biggio (he still has a job?)

OF WM Pena (will need Kearns or Griffey to go on the dll for pt--actually, good pick)

OF J Jones (honestly, I think this is correct; I had him listed under your pitchers--if it's correct, he sucks)

SP Prior (will get 25 K's during his first start--on Sept. 26)

SP Halladya (will pitch every inning of every game he starts--until May from which time he'll spend every inning on the dl)

SP Freddy Garcia (potential cy young if all 150 guys ahead of him have season ending injuries in the next two weeks)

SP Marquis (if you think last year was good, look at his '02-03 numbers)

SP El Duque (even the Yankees don't want him anymore)

SP League (did they even have a sticker for this guy?)

SP Dave Williams (this has to be wrong)

SP Runnelvys Hernandez (he had a brilliant April about two years ago, like an island in a lifetime of suckiness)

RP Guardado (won't pitch an inning in the majors this year--the new Robb Nen)

RP Takatsu (will get knocked around this year, lose job to Marte)

RP Ayala (unimpressive K rate, won't get saves behind Cordero)

RP Tavarez (what's wrong with this guy? He must be mad at his dad)

The Tavarez I have is Wily (stolen base threat for Houston) and not Julian, but thank you Brian !

The commentary is priceless - when I win the $100k I will have it made up as a t-shirt and pass it out next year ;)

I'll wear it! You know I'm just teasing; it's a good team. I took Prior in a different draft yesterday. He will probably be healthy and make a huge impact for you--but with so few free agents in a league like this, I wouldn't risk it. I was originally going to go 1-2 Prior, Sheets, but instead I took Peavy second, probably an injury risk himself

I'll be happy with a top 5 finish, to be honest - I'm not so foolish as to think anyone can win every time they play. I want to finish in the top 3rd of our league. Anything more is gravy !

Dave,

I'm glad to hear your daughter is okay. Hope it wasn't anything serious. My 15-month old son broke his leg while I was gone, if it makes you feel any better. We had to hustle home as well. The doctor's said it was a green-stick break..He fell trying to climb out of his crib..They didn't even cast it or anything. He is already crawling around and is standing on it after only a day. The doc said that in three weeks or less, no one will ever even know he broke it but us. I just think he has some of that Hard-CHargin Devil Dog Marine in him from his old man.

Anyway, it was great meeting you guys. I know that this year is going to be a lot of fun.

Later fellas,

Worm
