Detroit Tigers 0-7 Start

This was a team of destiny. A veteran offense that was going to score 1,000 runs. A great starting pitching staff made up of experience and youth.

So far, blecccch.

To date, they've scored 15 runs (including 2 shutouts) in 7 games and have been outscored 44 to 15. Pathetic!

If only they can get to Todd Jones and his 0.00 era in the 9th!

As a true Tiger fan....I say it just figures.

Its like the Pistons, when they get too much hype, they falter, when they are the underdogs, they prosper.

This team really does have some issues though. They look old and slow on defense and the pitching really doesn't have the power arms needed to win that division. Sad that the team has spent all that money on a roster that has some serious flaws.

The Tigers will be there in October. By the All-Star Break we will be saying how amazing it is that the Tigers are doing so well after such a bad April.

Tigers will be +/- 2 games of .500 by the end of the month.

They have looked awful in every aspect of the game. Baserunning mistakes that little leagues don't make. On the upside they have been lucky that Guillen hasn't gotten plowed over and injured straddling the baseline at first. No one expected great pitching after Verlander (Other then me with Bonderman in three NFBC leagues) but this offense was suppose to rake: Leading off Granderson (Hasn't played yet), Batting second POPUP Polanco (.226 below his 2007 average), third No runs yet Sheffield, Cleanup defending batting champ with no runs or RBI's, fifth the 24year old that is looking to end his four year run of 110+ RBI's with only 1 so far, Sixth Guillen with only 1 RBI, finally some production from the seven spot .148 hitting Pudge who leads the regulars with 2 RBI, eighth Renteria another 1 RBI guy and ninth Jacque Jones. Lucky 10th guy Inge has 4 runs batted in.

Still like being in last in your Fantasy League on April 9th, it is a marathon not a sprint. Do you really believe the O’s, Whitesox & Royals are the cream of the AL just because they have the best record after 7 games?

i would not worry. the tigers, like the cubs have at least another 100 million to spend this year- so help will be on the way. the al central could be very interesting - and also not have a 90 win team. i said this on these boards way back in mid march- the weather in the midwest and east this year was, is and will be awfull. it is - i believe- a major part of the problem for the red sox, yanks, tigers, sox, etc. might be june before everyone warms up.

Tigers will still win 92 games, the players haven't changed.

Losing 7 games in a row sucks and their bullpen needs a couple arms, but the rest of their team is rock solid. Climb off the ledge, Chicken Little

The AL is like the Western Conference in basketball, much harder to make the postseason. 92 wins might not cut it, if the Tigers can even reach that total...which I don't think they do. They are overated, sure great offense (eventually), but you need pitching too, and they are lacking there big time.
Always be closing.

And here come the Tigers - 11 runs in their last 3 at bats to take an 11-9 lead on the Twins heading into the 9th ... the whole team just remembered how to hit!

Big wins like this can carry a team. Prediction: They'll be back to .500 or better by the end of April.

Side bet anyone (Lance are you out there)???

I agree with you.

The odds are those bats will wake up with a vengeance.

[/QUOTE]Maybe their bats are alive but they still can't field or pitch. 200. .500 or better at the conclusion of apr 30's game. Hitting .500 then dropping below on april 30 doesn't get it done. Agreed ?
