NFBC Prize Structure

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Mar 11, 2004 3:35 am

Guys, I apologize for being out of touch this morning, but unfortunately I'm also running a Fantasy Sports Trade Conference on March 17-18 at the Rio which is so red-hot I can't keep up. We have 125 business executives coming for that event -- a record attendance and almost 40 up from last year -- in many ways thanks to the NFBC. Many of these guys are sticking around to either compete or witness our grand event.

So I'm busy with the NFBC, but just as busy with the Fantasy Sports Trade Conference. I apologize if I'm turning into Sybil these days.

That being said, our main goal today is to create more revenue before talking about changing the prize structure. I'm doing everything I can to get at least 1-2 more leagues organized, which would save the day. And we're talking to potential sponsors for on-site advertising as we've shied away from that up to this point so as to not bombard you guys with ads. Well, I think everyone would take a banner ad over a reduction in prize money. So we're working the phones today, trying to get a title sponsor and recruit 30 more players. We won't make any decision on the prize structure today.

I do not want to discourage any of the fence sitters from joining our party because we are definitely "on" for March 19-20. I just honestly asked for everyone's opinion on this matter and we really didn't come up with a conclusion. We're committed to the $100,000 figure here and understand the reasoning of keeping prize money for second and third overall. So today we're trying to get more signups and a sponsor and we'll make a good call tomorrow. So hang tight with me and we'll make this work.

Oh, and tell any fence sitters you know to jump over to our side and form one more league.

I'll be here to take your questions at 3 p.m. EST if you have any. Until then, I'll be on the recruiting trail. Thanks for understanding.
