Yes the closer run was crazy. My turn came up at the end of round 8 / beginning of round 9, with about 17 FT closers available and I didn't have a closer.. I went Putz/Valverde, 8-15/9-1. When my turn came back, there were no FT closers left.

I think the Catchers went pretty much normal, with the top 9 going, then a big gap, as mentioned in Greg's column. This is going to be the norm, though I see some upward movement in Wilson Ramos into the top tier, in some drafts.

why stop there Outlaw ? I'm sure the cherries on Fri nite (Sack/Z/Q/E) really appreciate the info

except lets be real here - "Most decent catcting options went bewtween rounds 12-19" u forgot to mention those were (for many) 2nd catchers there Randy of the Redwoods...when 2 effing C's go in the 2nd rd those of us on team Wiseguy smile.....but it still pisses me off that I hafta waste a 21st rd pk on Barajas b/c of the aforementioned ridiculous 2nd C run

don't even get me started on the closers! look, I go into the draft w/ no plan on tracking other guy's pks..I worry bout my own team. when Mark mentioned on the chat that 1 guy had taken 4 C's thru 14 rds it DID take me aback

btw, Mark r u goin to cheerlead for us again ? if so Q says bring ur pom poms baby !

Re: the catchers and closers, the draft started to mirror the overall main more than a single league slow team, that was evident by the way the guys were playing it. Certain guys fell, but I think it was more a product of how people were building their teams. There were some solid starters that fell in this draft, whereas they didn't in a few of the other slow drafts I was in. Come next month, starters may all be gone by round five. Its just the luck of the draw.

Shields and Trumbo were very good value.

Everyone has their strategy, no matter how fast the draft goes. After I was able to draw the 1st pick, I knew I was going to take Kemp/Pitcher/Pitcher, which I know has been a trend in these early drafts, but I knew if I waited until the late 4th for a pitcher, I would be screwed.

Now even more surprising than the 4 catchers in the first 14 rounds (2 of which will be 1B/CI eligible though), the same drafter took closers in rounds 5,6, AND 7

But, then again... who knows. I cannot criticize anyone's strategy, but I will say that, when the draft is going so fast and you are drafting at the top or the bottom of the draft, you have to reach sometimes on certain positions, especially closer.... since there is always a run and you don't want to be on the wrong side. This draft definitely had an early run, which led to decent starting pitching falling.

All in all, an extremely interesting draft..... I especially liked the 2B/2B/3B/3B start to one of the drafters....

This is a little misleading for anyone not in the draft - no C's between 6-11 because the top 9 were all gone by the end of Rd 5.
