i needed someone to drop next sunday. just read the postgame comments from gibson...both putz and hernandez have had heavy workloads so far (they've been warming up multiple games even though they may have not gotten in the game). just a breather for both guys.

my Seth Smith $37 bid went unopposed.

JJ Putz, 20 rounds later.
unless i'm missing something, he is 3rd in line. seems like a weekly "closer sniffer" that will never pan out.
Interesting that the "3rd in line" to get saves has 2 already including one today. I suppose they were resting Putz today, but Shaw seems to be 2nd in line to me.

Don't think I've ever won the same guy in every single 15-tm league before in one week. I'm all in on Jon Rauch (7 for 7). If Francisco isn't the next closer to go down with an injury, he can't be too far away. Surprised no one wanted Rauch, he was un-opposed in most lges. I guess Schandler doesn't like him.

I'm not sure he's the next guy. Parnell could be next and Collins has said Bautista will get save opportunities when Francisco needs a blow.
*Full recognition that Bautista blows

I drafted Reed & Pestano but neither look close any time soon. I tried to get Marshall or Broxton last week but bids of $400+ & $300+ didn't win.
So i've bid crazy on Casilla today. Go big or go home right?
\
Matt - I did the same thing for a similar reason and let go of Reed to roster him with a crazy $401 bid. Runner up was $224. I came down from $443 then up again from $375. My team is off to a great start save the saves - so I went big. Easier to do it in an OC league since there are always $1 options throughout the year.
As for those discounting Casilla - one thing to remember about the Giants is their pitching staff is good which means more low scoring games and more save opps. I think the real wild card now is Myers and where/when he gets dealt.
I feel slightly better that in my other league where I didn't need him he went for $350ish.

I believe he said Batista would get chances when both Francisco and Rauch weren't available, and that Parnell would be used in earlier innings. I'd be very surprised if he wasnt no.1 after FF - he's healthy, has been almost untouchable and he's got a track record. Shouldn't have to wait long to find out.

You could be right. I know nothing about closers. Or Mets. I take my cue from Lowy.

The fact that I beat out Lowy for him is a little scary, but it could be that he has Frank Francisco visions of glory.

Glenn says that Francisco, Rauch, Parnell and Batista all get 30 saves.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

That's very similar to his prediction that Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow both throw for 30 TDs.

I'm sorry to say that you wasted some FAAB KJ. My prediction, Francisco is the first closer in history that breaks triple digits in saves.

That ok Glenn, so long as you're not predicting that Rauch's 0.18 WHIP is going to increase from here.

Nope, his WHIP should decrease about .17 by season's end.

Ryan Braun was dropped in one of my XII's. I wonder if the 640 I have left in FAAB will be enough to grab him next week.

Nope, not kidding. I'm thinking about bidding most of my FAAB. How much do you think I have to save for the balance of the season?

Braun has to be undroppable this early in the season. This should get reversed.
