Humber perfect game
Humber perfect game
Yet ANOTHER former New York Met pitching a no hitter/perfect game, and still none in the 50 year Met history. As far as Humber, still dont think he is that good.. just pitched against a AAA team today.

Not bad for a 25th round pick in NFBC
Re: Humber perfect game
not bad for an undrafted and still FA in my OC league
Re: Humber perfect game
And the White Sox now have 2 perfect games in four years.BK METS wrote:Yet ANOTHER former New York Met pitching a no hitter/perfect game, and still none in the 50 year Met history. As far as Humber, still dont think he is that good.. just pitched against a AAA team today.
Mariners or not, less than 100 pitches to throw the 21st perfect game ever in the majors is quite a feat! I'm not sure what his adp was but I think most teams drafted Humber as a reserve pitcher. 25th round or so would be my guess.

Re: Humber perfect game
He should feel fortunate it was a perfect game. No way that last check swing by Ryan was a swing. Maybe the umps gave him a makeup call for the blown perfect game last year in Detroit.

Ah, it was close enough where you have to ring him up in that situation. No problem at all with him calling that. Factor in that Brendan Ryan is a douche and that call was a no-brainer!

in the background to the celebration, you can see ryan being restrained near the m's dug-out from charging after the ump to bitch and complain.Ando wrote: Factor in that Brendan Ryan is a douche and that call was a no-brainer!

Just imagine if Ryan would have busted it down the line and been safe at first and had broken up the perfecto that way!!
I'm sure that would have been an MLB first!

Yet another stellar example of the prima donna mentality and approach that disgustingly pervades this and other pro sports today. He should have just shut the f!@# up, put his head down, and busted it to first. Great game by Humber. The 18th!!! no-hitter in White Sox history. How is that even possible?! For a Mets fan, it's just incomprehensible.

30th round in the main, weekend 1 ... wish I'd have grabbed him in a few more leagues. Won't obviously get outings like this all the time ... but I think he breaks-out a bit this year.
(and yes ... he was active for my squad -- which needed an outing like that!)

I love it …. You call out B Ryan for being a prima donna ( I would love to hear what Dan has to say about that) and then one minute later on another thread you rip Charlie Manuel and the Phillies because they let Cliff Lee throw 10 innings (102 pitches)Baseball Furies wrote:mlbbug wrote:Just imagine if Ryan would have busted it down the line and been safe at first and had broken up the perfecto that way!!![]()

Yeah, between all the commotion going on in my house at the moment, I couldn't hear the tv... I thought Humber had walked him. There were a couple other pitches in that 9th inning that the Ms swung and missed that helped his cause too. But hey, if they're going to go up hacking, keep it outside the zone. The Mighty Men wrote:He should feel fortunate it was a perfect game. No way that last check swing by Ryan was a swing. Another interesting thing about the perfect game that I didn't realize... There weren't any 3-ball counts until the 9th inning.
