$$$ Scott Downs $$$

Post by poopytooth » Sun Apr 29, 2012 1:23 pm

How much will he go for? A lefty who is not a strikeout guy, with the Angels looking at Balfour and others....I'm all in! 200 plus.

He is available in both of my leagues we have FAAB...
Need him in one league A LOT more than the other, but I would guess with him being the Closer for the Angels, he will go for at least 345 - 400 considering he has proven he can do it before.
Will be interesting, but Scott Downs is surely the Big $ for this week I think.

ouch on 450, for a closer that may only last a week or two, or until the Angels get rolling and go back to thier plan of Walden closing. I have Walden too and will not spend that much on him, in fact not sure if ill put a bid in, when ill be up against hundreds for Downs. Happy bidding though.

I bid $42. Not really sure why. If no one goes overboard, I have a shot. If someone does go overboard, they can have him. Something tells me I won't get him. He scares me a little, though, so I decided to be a little cautious.

The next potential closer that goes for less than $200 will be the first

I bid on Downs for a couple teams, not ridiculous money, but certainly triple figures. Downs has both the role and the skills to hold the role. They're mixing things up right now in Angels-country. Don't be surprised that if Downs saves a few in a row that he keeps the job for the foreseeable future.

413 in my main event. This is complete insanity with these closers.

I paid $414 in MAIN EVENT CHICAGO LEAGUE 1 tonight. A lot like Russell - Navel Lint last week paying 421 for F Cordero, this was my one shot! I have Papelbon and Aceves as closers now, but already lost B Wilson to the DL and just had to try and shore up my Saves.
Who knows if this was a good move or not, but I feel comfortable knowing I am getting a guy on a good team who has closed before with success and can keep the ball in the park! :)

By the guy in 1st place Overall. Interesting move by him. Will put to test the question as to whether you can win an overall while punting saves

The team in 13th Place in the Overall....... 0 Saves

Strategy looks good for 1 month, will it hold up for 6 months?

1st Overall has 1 save and no closers (Mike Adams)
The team that won the auction championship last year, had no closers. Obviously different than the main, with lesser teams, but a top 10 finish is definitely a possibility in the main overall. Anson's team is first overall with Cliff Lee and Berkman injured, along with a few others. Still very early, but many of the teams that drafted Kemp/Hamilton are in the top group.

Only time will tell, but if I had to place a bet now, I would say that you are probably gonna like your deal more than I like mine.

That Wouldn't have gotten him in any of my leagues for 200 plus. He went 380 or 400 +. Will end in tears if angels trade for Fuentes or Balfour or any other of the crappy "experienced" closers floating around

885? 501? What are people thinking?

I do feel bad for the one guy in one of my leagues that drafted downs and dropped him last week. Doh!
