Injured player updates
Rickie Weeks is hurt and most likely out this week, yet nothing shows him as even being injured on this website. Good thing I noticed it on cbs sportsline or he would still be in my starting lineup.
Starting to wonder about the NFBC: player info, injuries, live scoring...tops in payouts, lacking in everything else!

Re: Injured player updates
There is no one fantasy site that knows more about a players injuries than another.
CBS and RotoWorld tell us only what their writers, players, coaches, or Managers tell them. Then, they may give an opinion as to what that message REALLY means.
This site has never been touted or tout itself as a go to site for up to date news and I don't think that has ever been implied or promised.
As fantasy players, it is up to each of us to find out as much as we can before we post our lineups.
Faulting this site for not having up to date news is barking up the wrong tree.

Seriously.
I come here to play against the best players around. Period. I don't expect the site to do my work for me.
I do my own homework and don't expect this site to give me (or my competitors) "advice" on how to manage my teams. In fact - the less info available the better IMO. As long as I can clearly search for stats and players when I need to bid on Sunday- I need nothing else. The expected starts for the week is a nice feature - but I don't rely on it and always double check on that.
Of all the sites out there. The NFBC has one of the best FAAB bidding systems out there. Easiest to use by far, and always improving thanks to input from the players over the years.
Yes - many services out there have "lineup" assist features these days, they tell you when a guy is DTD or even if he is in the lineup or not. They tell you who is "hot" and who is "not". I have teams on CBS, Yahoo, ESPN and Onroto.com - so I am familiar with ALL of the major players out there and what they have to offer the consumer. The thing is (other than onroto.com) the other three major players are INFORMATION providers first and foremost. So yes they want to direct you to the information they are peddling whenever possible. They want all those mouse clicks you are going to give them for their advertising.
This is a "competition" site. We are competing here. All that should be expected is a secure and easy to use site for setting your lineups and acquiring available talent. Improving Live Scoring would be a plus that would add to the enjoyment level - but again - even this would be a bonus and not really needed.
Matt Kemp injured his hamstring yesterday. No one knows if he's going to miss a bunch of games or be playing for the first half of the week. If you own him - YOU have to make the call. You however want the site to post a notation to tell you this info so you don't miss it. Of course if the site posts something that tells you to bench Kemp - and he goes off - then you'd have people bitching about that. Best thing is to leave it up to owners to do their own due diligence when it comes to gathering information needed to make key decisions. The DL designation is all that is needed - anything else and the site is wading into the mess of influencing the decisions that WE need to make.

Sigh, "lacking in everything else"? Yea, the payouts are the only thing NFBC does well....jeez, dramatic much?
Re: Injured player updates
I think this site should go to every player's home on a daily basis and ask them how they are going to do this coming week

Re: Injured player updates
Ryan makes a great point... a lot of the time, the "rumor" says that a player "could" be out for a week. Then, when the player plays all week and you bench him, because of the "rumor", then who do you blame?
There are MANY sites for rumors and most here use them when making lineup decisions. I cannot tell you how many times CBS screwed me because I listened to their rumor while posting my lineup... I am very happy that the NFBC does not follow the rumor and posts the actual DL when it happens. Even though Scott Rolen is not a prominant player, I noticed that the NFBC posted he was DL'd about 10 minutes after it was actually announced. To me, that is all that is expected.

Re: Injured player updates
I don't have any problem with this suggestion or this criticism. You are right, there is no update on Rickie Weeks after he was hit by a pitch Friday night and there should be. We are co-owned by the Associated Press and our player notes are a part of our in-house content. This is one player note that unfortunately wasn't updated, but it could have been. We are currently looking at the content we currently have and making sure all of that is being integrated into the fantasy player notes. As you suggested, this too can be improved.Steel Lugnuts wrote:Rickie Weeks is hurt and most likely out this week, yet nothing shows him as even being injured on this website. Again, pointing out things we can do to improve the site and making sure we have the best game/event/contest is all good. You folks wouldn't be pointing these things out if you didn't want them improved. For us not to take these points seriously would be foolish on our part. And we do want to be the very best, so there's no need to take shots at our IT guys or anyone else here. EVERYONE is in this together to get it as perfect as possible. And if other companies in the industry or other areas of the industry like daily games improve just as much, then good for the consumers. They will have GOOD choices at their disposal. But at the end of the day our game better be as good as it possibly can using all of the resources we have available (like our own AP player notes) to make you continue to play at the NFBC.
Again, thanks for the suggestion and I think we will get Live Scoring, Player Notes and Live Overall Standings working the way you all want it.

Re: Injured player updates
I just got back from Peru yesterday. I was there for 9 days. The hotel had wifi and some areas did as we visited on vacation. Granted, I didnt have 24/7 access, as I didn't do an international calling plan, but my droid got me online in wifi zones....
My point...
from Peru, I could take a phone out of my pocket, search different sites, set m
y line ups, recheck sites and adjust my line ups. All of this on a small screen, from south america while my wife was asking if I was done so we could continue with the itinerary.
translation means two things...
1. we all need to be accountable for our teams, no matter what the circumstances...
2. When I was a kid and atari 2600 came out with pitfall, I thought out would never get any better, but I set my line up from my phone in lima, peru.... Amazing!
BUT, if you are taking requests Greg, can you maybe send us all ear plugs so we could ignore our wives while we set our line ups?

That's about as a good a reply as I could have expected, I appreciate it. For those of you who suggest to get the player updates elsewhere are crazy.
When you spend hundreds, some thousands, and you have mulitpe leagues on NFBC, it's not too much to expect to browse your roster (espeically those of us in slow drafts with 50-man rosters), and see who's injured, who may be out, etc...to suggest to go to another site(s), and find out who's injured, then check all your teams on NFBC to see who you need to bench, etc...is insane (pretty much impossible for some I would imagine).
I was probably a little harsh in my overall assessment, perhaps other sites have more resources available at their disposal, but the fact your looking to improve in this area is good news.
