NFBC To Offer Mid-Season Leagues At The Break

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed May 30, 2012 7:46 am

With so many injuries happening to your main NFBC teams this year, we thought some of you may want a second chance on Draft Day, so we will again offer NFBC Mid-Season Leagues this year. These will be leagues that draft during the All-Star break and run from that point through the end of the season. We'll offer different price levels during the three-day All-Star break and hope to fill at least one league of each.

Registration will be live shortly with these options, but I thought I'd get these out here now so that everyone can plan ahead. We don't need any payment until these leagues are full, so feel free to secure your spot online or via email and we'll worry about payment later. Thanks.

All of the leagues draft during the All-Star break and stats run from the first Thursday, July 12th games through the end of the season. All of the rules are the same with the exception being Minimum Innings Pitched of 450. All of the drafts will be held online at nfbc.stats.com and we'll update the player default list to help move things along. Should be fun.

We will have one unique league that varies from the rules above. This one was proposed by NFBC Charter Member Don Mathis back in 2005 and we've run this league several years now (although we failed to fill it last year). It's called the $250 Don Mathis League and it's the only one where we use stats from the whole season. When you set your starting lineup on Thursday, July 12th all 23 players in your starting lineup get their first half stats. Standings will calculate on Thursday night for everyone's Week 1 starting lineup using the first half stats and then all second half stats will be added to those first half stats. It's a fun, unique contest that takes into account your knowledge of the first half and your projections of the second half.

Anyway, we'll try to fill a few leagues and give everyone a Second Chance on the baseball season. Here's the Schedule of Events for these Mid-Season Leagues:

Monday, July 9
$125 Pay Top 3 League, 7 pm ET
$500 Pay Top 3 League, 8 pm ET

Tuesday, July 10
$125 Pay Top 3 League, 8 pm ET
$250 Don Mathis Pay Top 3 League (uses first half stats), 7 pm ET

Wednesday, July 11
$250 Pay Top 3 League, 7 pm ET
$125 Pay Top 3 League, 9 pm ET

To secure a spot, contact me at [email protected], post your desire on this thread or sign up online once these are added to Registration. I'll post here when those entries go live. Thanks all and good luck the rest of the way in all of your leagues.

Thanks Chris.

We didn't list any time slot for a $1,000 Mid-Season League, but we did fill one of those in the past. If anyone wants me to add that I can do it. Wednesday night might make the most sense for that price point if you're interested. Thanks all.

Everything is the same as full season Satellite League Prizes. So just go to Leagues and pull down to $125, $250 or $500. For $125, it's:

1st - $1,000
2nd - $375
3rd - $125

http://nfbc.stats.com/baseball/top3.asp

$250:
1st - $2,000
2nd - $750
3rd - $250

$500:
1st: $4,000
2nd: $1,500
3rd: $500

May I have another sir?

Heck, with guys like Kemp and Tulo headed to the DL after last night's game, everyone in every league is feeling the pain of injuries. This is a MARATHON as we all know and some of those top teams may just fall down to you, or you may catch them. But one thing is for sure: Nothing will stay the same from today through early October. Keep grinding everyone and this season of injuries may still work out for you.

Yeah, what the heck Greg, you can put me down for the Monday, 7pm ET slot. That Kemp injury just might doom one of my teams that is in 2nd place. I've been hanging on without him the last 2-weeks, not so sure I can keep it up!

Seems like it could be pretty interesting trying to predict where the players (and injured players), will go in the draft.

How long do the 15-team 30-round drafts usually take?

These can be done in 3+ hours, maybe 3 1/2 hours. Should be fun. Thanks Bruce and look for the current signup list on a separate thread that Tom has created. That will be the spot to find the latest signup figures. Thanks all.

I know that a lot of you folks don't necessarily want another league with Sunday FAAB, so we could easily run Draft Champions Leagues at any price level and pay out the same as the FAAB Satellite Leagues. If anyone is interested in a one-night 50-round draft without FAAB during the season, we can definitely do that on any day during the All-Star break. I'm being told that there are no games on Thursday this year, so maybe we could do it that night. Again, $150, $250, $500 or $1,000 DCs work for us. Just let me know if anyone is interested in a DC Mid-Season League. Thanks.
