Unanswerable Questions Lead To the Wonder of Drafts

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Fri Oct 19, 2012 5:13 pm

I love drafting. There is nothing like it. The wonder of who will be the next pick. If having a plan, wondering how close we can get to that plan. Each draft takes on a life of its own.
At the time of the draft, the players are merely names on a screen or sheet of paper. They don't come to life till way in the future. Especially if drafting now.
McCann's shoulder, CC Sabathia's elbow, and Derek Jeter's ankle are unknown's.
If drafting now, they are scary.
We know there is, most likely, a one in three chance that a player with a possible harsh surgery will have set backs.
We hate set backs. We try to avoid them at all costs.
In a current 50 round draft, we are in the 11th round and Jeter and McCann haven't been taken. With more information coming over the next few weeks and months, these players will either move up or down in future drafts.
If not drafting, it's easy to say that these players have six months to recover and should be fine.
Yeah, uh, tell that to Carl Crawford.
Jeter is far from being a spring chicken and McCann plays the most demanding position in baseball. In a league where designated hitting is not an option, and for McCann, neither is first base.

Is Eric Hosmer still a top 10 rounder? Is Lawrie?
Is Kris Medlen Atlanta's ace?
Is Trevor Bauer still a prospect?
Is Dylan Bundy the new Trevor Bauer?
Does Pineda come back?
Who closes for the Yanks? Rivera?
Does Soriano set him up? Close for the Yankees? Close for somebody else?
How far does ARod drop?
We are in the 11th round and nobody has taken him yet.
He went in the 9th round of the 30 round draft.

Isn't it great? All these questions and the off season hasn't even started yet.
I usually only do two e-mail drafts before the draft room is open, but might start one more at the conclusion of these drafts.
I've jumped in the water and I don't want to come out of the pool.
I'd like to get some feedback from those who haven't participated in one of these drafts.
Would you like to draft?
Itching to take the leap?
If there is enough interest, maybe we can do one more.
Let me know.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Not enough responses to consider starting one up, only 2 pm's.
If getting the itch, let me know.
