Piss on my cornflakes

Post by Quahogs » Thu Apr 18, 2013 8:39 am

I normally don't keep a running tally of the day's results - especially when I know the night was slow. So I'll check the previous day/night's results in the morning. This one really caught my eye though...

For a scheduled full slate Wednesday I didn't think this was at all possible. In a 12 team OC league nonetheless ! Talk about total suckitude.

37 ab .135 batting average. 0 R 0HR 0RBI 0SB
bench hitters: 17ab 0R 0HR 0RBI 0SB

pitching: 0ip 0W 0sv 0K

Tee em up boys ! :?

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Had this happen to a friend of mine in a large (18 team) mixed league in LALAland years ago - I said his team had been "Bageled" - all round ones.

Sympathies Steve - it is pretty hard to have 0 in all R/RBI/HR/SB but you have achieved ;)

(and you have had plenty of the monster days in the past so it's just a cosmic reminder)

You have to wonder...if you stocked a shelf with boxes labeled like that...how many boxes would make it home before someone took a closer look....

Thanks Hook, I think of it as a statistical anomaly. Surely to be ajusted by future 37ab 2R 0HR 2RBI 0SB nights !

Bochy should continue to leave Matt Cain in to get his effing brains beat out like he did against STL last week,

Cain's location has been off on several pitches in the first three innings - not just the ones that left the yard - and yes it appears a confused Bochy is going to try and let him "work it out"

It is ok...Gallardo is already up to 55 pitches through 3 IP. The Brewers will probably pull him after 4 2/3 in a 7-0 game because of pitch count....

Cain had a quick 1-2-3 fourth inning

barely retired the leadoff batter in the fifth on tough play to Belt wide of the bag and barely beating the runner back, then faced Braun who popped out to Pence in RF, and then went to a 3-2 count on Weeks before striking him out for a second consecutive 1-2-3 inning

Cain got two quick outs in bottom of the sixth before going 3-2 on Carlos Gomez and then surrending an single to RF; got Betancourt on a fly out to RF on his 98th pitch of the day

Had retired ten in a row before that hit so Bochy was correct leaving him in to work
