NFBC Participant's Question...MVP
NFBC Participant's Question...MVP
This one is simple.
After watching one month of baseball, who will be the A.L. and N.L. MVP's?
Put me down for Miguel Cabrera and Brandon Phillips.
I'll bring this thread up near the beginning of each month and we can track how our choices change over the course of the six months.

Miggy and Harper in landslides!!
Re: NFBC Participant's Question...MVP
Has to be Miggy in the AL, quietly leading in 2 of 3 triple crown categories and his team is in 1st place.
I will go with Justin Upton in the NL, but very close.

Miggy and Yuniesky Betancourt.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

jean segura, easily!

Re: NFBC Participant's Question...MVP
Segura may be the fantasy MVP thus far, but I cannot see how he would win baseball MVP with his team in last place, at this point. I am curious now... when was the last player to win the MVP on a last place team? Arod? Dawson?RoundTrippers wrote:jean segura, easily!

Re: NFBC Participant's Question...MVP
I have always hated how the MVP can only go to a player on a winning team based on the silly semantics of "how valuable was he if his team didn't win?"
So Segura's shot at MVP is dependent on how well the Brewer front office does with building a pitching staff that can win games?
An NFL players shot at MVP is dependent on how well his teams defense plays and if it can contribute to a winning season?
It has always been silly to me.
