This morning I decided to grab a local paper, which I rarely do anymore, only to find more articles on the Yankee's options with Robertson.
Now, I'm probably older than most, but not as old as some. My teenage winters were spent, not around a pot belly stove, but listening to the 11:00pm news for any trades and then making sure I got a hold of my father's New York Daily News the next morning to read about the transactions.
I had this booklet the prior season that had 2 pages dedicated to each team. It gave the rosters with the usual information...height, weight, age, bats/throws,...as well as a diagram of each ball park at the bottom with its name, dimensions and seating capacity.
When a trade was made I would dutifully cross off the player from one page and write him in to the new roster.
Now days ( did I sound old there?) we get tweets, updates, email alerts, internet information, breakdowns as they occur and all of this can be found on dozens of sites...ESPN...Yahoo, CBSSports...MLB...and the list goes on. (Did someone say Mastersball?)
I no longer have an old white book that I cherish and keep on my dresser for frequent refreshers. We now race to see what Todd's new adjustment will be. (Btw...my 9 year old daughter is getting me this year's subscription for Christmas...she just doesn't know it yet.

Wow...things have changed. We need to coin a more up-to-date term. I'm as traditional as the next guy, but "Hot Stove" is out dated. Hell...."Microwave" seems more appropriate.
Just as an aside...I was teaching a class to some local coaches a couple weeks ago and their application asked for home phone, cell phone and pager. I had a high schooler sitting for the class and came up to me and asked what a pager was! Sheesh! I'm going to have to have them take that off the form. It makes me feel old.

Anyway...just a quiet Tuesday. Almost finished Christmas shopping. Just thought I'd vent before I call the girlfriend.
She wouldn't understand.
