Yankee Chris

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Thu Feb 09, 2017 9:18 pm

Quick! When thinking about a Yankee fist baseman, who comes to mind?
For me, Chris Chambliss.
Now, they have signed another Chris.
Chris Carter.
Chris Chambliss may have made more in a year, I'd have to look it up.

The signing was amazing for the Yankees. In the opposite way of all other signings in Yankee history.
Fans are amazed at how little they paid Carter.
And since the Yankees paid Carter so little, fantasy players, at least most of them, believe that Carter's playing time will be compromised.
I don't think so.
The signing does not hurt Carter near as much as it stunts Greg Bird's growth.
Naturally, Carter will play against lefties (I heard the Red Sox have a few lefties)
Bird loses at bats, even though Carter doesn't hit lefties any better than righties. But Managers like looking smart!
Carter plays.
And when Carter hits a few bombs at Yankee Stadium, he'll warrant more playing time.
Which brings us to Aaron Judge and Matt Holliday. They'll also lose playing time.
AND, if Judge fails early, he is an easy option to the minors.
Holliday can still play the outfield.
Carter? A natural DH.
Then, there is the brittleness of the other Yankee outfielders, Ellsbury and Gardner.
Carter sees plenty of at bats.
Cheap at bats.

Yeah, and for me it's Lou Gehrig.
Lost all effect, Stupid DOUGHBOYS!
I meant to follow 'first basemen' with 'named Chris'.
Oh well.

Good catch :D

Wally Pipp?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I wrote a very long 'Fantasy Camp', re-read it and thought it was too much about me.
It's shelved.

Typically there have only been a few mentions in Fantasy Camp about Doughboys. Normally during snack time at camp or to ask Zola a numerish question. I think the fans of Fantasy Camp, would certainly enjoy a Doughboys based Fantasy Camp. Don't be shy, let it fly.
