Trivia

Post by Yah Mule » Thu Aug 16, 2018 10:56 am

I was forwarded this SABR Baseball Trivia Question this morning. Pretty good one.

The first 10 winners of back-to-back league MVPs fit perfectly on a baseball diamond. One and only one for each position, including DH. Such perfect symmetry.

1B __________________________________________________ [1932-33 AL]

P ___________________________________________________ [1944-45 AL]

C ___________________________________________________ [1954-55 AL]

CF __________________________________________________ [1956-57 AL]

SS __________________________________________________ [1958-59 NL]

RF __________________________________________________ [1960-61 AL]

2B __________________________________________________ [1975-76 NL]

3B __________________________________________________ [1980-81 NL]

LF __________________________________________________ [1982-83 NL]

DH __________________________________________________[1993-94 AL]

To be fair, the '82, '83 winner played mostly in Center Field both years and was known as a CF during his career.
It's wierd and funny that those were the ONLY two years in which he played more than four games ( 66 in '82, 28 in '83) in Left Field.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

I realized there's a actually a mistake on this question. A pretty well known left fielder won the NL MVP in 92-93, so he was actually the 10th back-to-back MVP, not Frank Thomas and a better fit for this question than the 82-83 winner.
