Open Chat With Greg, Tom & Darik
Re: Open Chat With Greg, Tom & Darik
So with the news that the owners won’t give another proposal what are expecting for games? 54 max? Ugh!!!!
Re: Open Chat With Greg, Tom & Darik
For saving face I’m expecting owners to come back with 60 games. With a July 20 start and 10 week season.
Re: Open Chat With Greg, Tom & Darik
Owners could care less about 'face'. Face has left the building.

Dan at this point I just want them to announce a start date and game’s! Before o completely check out!
Re: Open Chat With Greg, Tom & Darik
They'll play, Greg.
The least amount of regular season games they can swing.
Getting to their money maker playoffs as soon as possible.

JFC!!!!! This is maddening!!! Now we have to work on the health and safety before we can do anything!!!! WTF!!!!! What if the players would have accepted their offer on Friday?
Re: Open Chat With Greg, Tom & Darik
I could be wrong but I think this is a clever stall PR tactic by owners. A good reason to run the clock a bit more then mandate a shorter season one which they always wanted to do and spin it as they gave in and gave the players what they ultimately wanted.
Re: Open Chat With Greg, Tom & Darik
Nothing clever about it. Every day without baseball is a victory for the owners. Been that way since March.
We'll have an extremely shortened season.
Star players sitting out.
Corona Injury List.
And the two Spring Training sites are hotbeds for Corona right now.
There just isn't much going right for Joe Fan.

And now Manfred 5 days after saying 100% a season is like nah probably won’t play. At best now we get that 54 game season! Damn it!!!!DOUGHBOYS wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 2:45 pmNothing clever about it. Every day without baseball is a victory for the owners. Been that way since March.

Geezus, guys you're all worse than a cat chasing a laser point. None of this negotiation back n forth is real, it's so over the top. It’s all staged & fake. Joe Sheehan hiding in his little Twitter echo chamber is probably gonna write a 10k newsletter screed about the greedy owners & this labor strife like the typical knee-jerk reflex liberal champion of the worker that he is. So typical it's almost comical. Don’t believe your lying eyes. They already have an agreement from March with full pro-rated salaries, probably 70-74 games after July 4th. This is all staged fighting until we learn Covid-19 is a total HOAX. George Floyd death is fake. Race riots are staged & fake. The Drew Brees stuff is staged. Everything on TV news is fake. I often get confused myself by what is real & what is fake, but again our government is running a military psy-op propaganda on the American people & everything is FAKE. Once arrests are made & all is revealed then we will have baseball with full & packed stadiums & it will be glorious. Should be soon, hopefully his week.

Also I must agree with the ongoing sentiment on twitter that Heyman is a shill for MLB and it’s owners.

@JoePosnanski
It seems to come down to this: The baseball owners, who have made billions and been given sweetheart leases and absurd tax breaks and the legal freedom to run a monopoly, are unwilling to give back even a little to their communities and support the very game that they represent.

Re: Open Chat With Greg, Tom & Darik
Commish $ Owners have some balls accusing the MLBPA to slow down H&S talks and stop negotiation. They are the ones exactly doing that since the beginning. You mean to tell me the owners never realized they were coming with the same proposal every time. LOL And they are so scared of grievances they menace to cancel the Season. MLBPA outsmarted them by just asking when to report. Period. Anybody here ever heard of a company saying to the local union to come back negotiation when the union said to go ahead with whatever they wanna do?
Go ahead, make my day...
Re: Open Chat With Greg, Tom & Darik
Just a deplorable situation. Now that the owners have gotten what they want...to implement baseball at their choosing, they still have to kill more time to implement it in a way that is conducive to their pocketbooks.
When that time comes, the players may just tell them to take a hike.
Corona may be a bigger factor and wash away the whole damned season anyway.
Oh, what a tangled web the owners weave when practicing to deceive.

If Manfred is truly worried about a virus and a 2nd wave and a 3d wave and a 4th wave, and if you think a virus actually washed out the season, why won’t it wash away season’s to come. Amazing how millions have been protesting and continue to protest 1 inch apart and not a peep about the Wuhan virus jeopardizing anyone.
For my part, MLB can take their 50 game season and shove it. Wonder how Landis or Giamatti would have handled this. I can’t believe like Manfred.

Funny, I'm reading up on past Commish's now.Yankees2009 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 9:22 amIf Manfred is truly worried about a virus and a 2nd wave and a 3d wave and a 4th wave, and if you think a virus actually washed out the season, why won’t it wash away season’s to come. Landis was a different time, but wouldn't have stood for it.
We'd be playing now.
Manfred was handpicked to follow Selig. He was Selig's right hand man in negotiations. Naturally, as a tough negotiator on the Owners side, the Owners liked what they saw.
But here's the problem....And it is HUGE.
For as much grief as Bud Selig took as Commish, he had very strong points.
Number one of those strong points was communication with each owner. This came easy to Selig in that he was a former owner himself and knew all the personalities in the room.
If needing votes for a "good for baseball, bad for the owners measure", he would call or meet with each owner to ask how to get it done.
During Selig's time, baseball flourished with no work stoppages.
I feel that's about to stop.
Manfred's agenda is about winning at negotiating. Not about what is best for the game.
His title is Commisioner of Baseball.
That means overseeing the game and doing what is best to make the game thrive.
An open mind is needed. An open heart is needed. Manfred shows neither.
Selig was a baseball fan. Manfred has not demonstrated the same.
Manfred has fallen into the trap that a couple of other previous Commish's have fallen.
Although his title is Commisioner of Baseball, he has handled his job as being the 31st owner.
30 Owners can say, "Owner good, player bad" all day. They can, because they're an owner. They have the right.
Manfred can't. Or shouldn't. But he has.
It's frustrating.
Bill Terry was a first baseman for the Giants in the 20's and 30's. He hit over.400 one year and has one of the top batting averages in the history of the game.
Always known as a good hitter, he was also a player that spoke his mind.
Here is a quote from Terry that stands up today.....
"Baseball must be the greatest game in the World!
How else would it survive the fools that run it!"

Yes, fools indeed! While the names have changed, the owners have never gotten over losing the reserve clause.

And like clockwork, as I've been saying...The original agreement that was made back in March with the players for pro-rata salaries will be announced once they can announce that Corona is a HOAX & we will have games with fans. The amount of you falling for the misdirection is astounding.
Breaking: MLB commissioner Rob Manfred and players union chief Tony Clark had what’s being called a productive meeting face to face in Arizona. Meeting was called at Manfred’s request.

Greg - Please ensure Coz and I are in the same league together this year!!!!!!
Re: Open Chat With Greg, Tom & Darik
In fact, like the NFL did with a 10 year agreement, I will go so far as to predict an entire new CBA Agreement not just for this year.
