I'm not going to take a side in the debate yet as to how lucky this year's ME winner will be. It's too hard to predict at this time.
IF everybody knew a month ago all these games were going to be "postponed" this first week from a COVID perspective, no one would have signed up for this reboot season, except maybe doughboys

But the incredibly stupid travel schedule falls on MLB and Manfred. Who cares where they play? Stop traveling from city to city. Stop all players from sitting together in the dugout. Mandate masks if that helps. Have a compliance officer travel with each team if needed and keep track of EVERYONE. This is two months that rules need to be followed or the whole thing crashes down. It's on Manfred and the owners, just as much as it's on the players and Manfred's threat against the players yesterday was totally ridiculous, as if he'd take a toy away with one more temper tantrum.
Greg - I'd vote for you to be MLB commish. i know you would have a better plan than currently on display :)

Mark, I was tentative to even sign up for one Main Event with the 'new season'. I originally was going to do three till Covid came along.
The reasoning was that I didn't know how to draft for a 60 game season in a Covid environment.
I did foresee a lot of player problems in a pandemic. Talked about it with friends.
And I did think there would be 'postponements'. There had to be. And there will be more throughout the season.
Covid is everywhere and MLB players are going to test positive. It's just life in 2020.
I made sure I had multi-positioned players in my draft to help out. The only way to help combat absences.
Hell, some would say that David Fletcher has been the MVP of fantasy this first week.

Did I think it would be as bad as this?
No.
Hell no.
It is, indeed, a shitshow.
But, it's what we got.
We can't do anything about it.
Just do the best we can in getting rosters as filled as well as possible.
Knowing that others are having the same problems too.

One thing Covid cannot be used as an excuse for is Closing games.
Like Covid itself, Closers have become a shitshow unto themselves.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Timing is everything for having even 600 games.
For instance, if St. Louis becomes the new Marlins this week, baseball will survive the week.
But if a Marlins, Cardinals, and two other teams all happen at the same time, it'll be awfully hard for baseball to continue.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

I think closers miss having the fans in the stands more than most players.

Yep, for sure.

I’m hoping after the Cardinals covid issues are over with, maybe we can have a few close-to-normal weeks without entire teams missing a week or weekend of games. That’s the naively optimistic side of me. Baseball isn’t in a bubble though. Wear masks!!! These guys are seldomly out of breathe playing this game. Why is this so hard to do?

229 through Monday 8/10.

38% of the way to 600.
25% of the way to 900 (although 900 seems like a long shot at this point)

Current 80th percentile marks in Main Event:

R - 105
HR - 32
RBI - 102
SB - 11
AVE - .254 (yikes)

K - 133
W - 9
S - 8
ERA - 3.44
WHIP - 1.11

I suppose everyone can't own Robbie and Newcomb.

Nah, but I have a team that had Verlander, Morton, Kluber and CMart as 4 of my first 5 Pitchers...Ray and Newcomb are too healthy for me

293 games played through Saturday 8/16.

1/2 way to "official" season.
1/3 way to "full" season.

I don't want to jinx us, but it feels like these last 100 games were more like the MLB product we expected. Scoring is slightly up, batting average is up and there are more compelling games. I wasn't sure MLB could get to 100 games, but now I think they'll find a way to finish the regular season. I may be wrong, but it feels that way right now.

MLB sees a potential Yankees-Dodgers World Series and will likely push through no matter what to get to that series. Am I right?

GAME ON EVERYONE!!!!

I can't thank everyone enough for their patience through this season, especially during the first two weeks of the Sprint season. I know it was a shitshow for a while there, but this season is actually turning out to be very interesting and all of our NFBC national championships are great battles. Best of luck to everyone in all of our contests and let's hope that MLB can finish 2020 with every team getting in their 60 games.

Good luck all.
