Wierd Night!

Post by Edwards Kings » Thu May 10, 2007 12:20 am

I only had a few minutes to go over the box scores this morning as I was chomping down on my gourmet breakfast of "Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs", but if my count was right, there were as many as twelve pitchers last night who pitched anywhere from 5.3 to 9.0 IP and gave up between 0 and 2 ER but who did not get Wins out of the equation. For those owners, I guess we (I had three of them) have to be happy with our ERA, WHIP and K contributions.

That sentiment can be said for my week so far. Seven starts, 45.3 IP, 13 ER, 2.581 ERA, 1.059 WHIP, 30 K (3:1 K/BB ratio) with a W-L-ND record of 1-2-4. Nice.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Ain't that the truth. Weird day. Yesterday in Chicago auction we had 6 starting pitchers going: Haren, Dice-K, Shields, Byrd, Vargas & Bergmann, and here was their totals: 42.1 IP, 1.488 ERA, .898 Whip, 29 K's. Only 1 win out of all that.
Who is this, robed in splendor, striding forward in the greatness of his strength? “It is I, proclaiming victory, mighty to save.” Isaiah 63:1

Amen to that. Had Bedard and Shields in Main Event and Ultimate, pitching against each other, 16 innings, zero runs and ZERO wins:--((
