Jason Gill & Dave Smith Win NFBC 2024 AL & NL Titles

The NFBC AL-Only and NL-Only Auction leagues have been a big part of the NFBC since we started the live events back in 2004. During our inaugural year, we only had the Main Event and $1250 AL-Only and $1250 NL-Only Auction leagues. Heck, Rotisserie Baseball started as an NL-only league with the Founding Fathers back in 1980.

So I was glad that we could keep these leagues together again in 2024, even though they were held Online for the third straight year. This is likely going to be the location for these auction leagues going forward, but as long as we can keep them alive I'm happy with that. And I think our participants are happy with that option, too, since the leagues keep filling and are competitive each year.

We crowned two great champions this year as Jason Gill of Chicago, Illinois won the 2024 AL-Only Auction League and that $9,000 league prize, while Dave Smith of Warren, Ohio won the 2024 NL-Only Auction League and that $9,000 league prize. This is Jason Gill's first NFBC AL-Only Auction League title, although he has won three NFBC NL-Only Auction League titles. Dave Smith, on the other hand, now has won FOUR NFBC NL-Only Auction League titles, breaking that tie with Jason!!

Jason won the AL league title with 87.5 points, while Shawn Childs finished second with 84.5 points and Michael Lins and Brad Miller tied for third place with 78.5 points. Shawn earned $3,500 for his runner-up finish, while Michael and Brad each earned $1,000.

Dave won the NL league title with 100.5 points, winning this league by 11.5 points. Stephen Marshall finished second with 89 points, while Harvey Cohen finished third with 82 points. Stephen earned $3,500 for his runner-up finish, while Harvey earned $2,000. Cost of entry for each team in the NL-only and AL-only leagues was $1,500.

Last year I finally compiled a full list of our past NFBC AL-Only and NL-Only league champions. Congrats to all of our current and past champions of this great format.

We started this contest at a $1,250 price point and then even added some $650 live auction leagues from 2005-09. We soon found out that wasn't cost effective at Las Vegas hotels and offered just $1,250 auction leagues after that.
