Shawn,

I think it would be too much to expect you to give up what KDS slots you like the most- so I will ask what spots are you avoiding and WHY?

Hey Shawn. Without giving away too much, what's your drafting philosophy?

Do you go into a draft with a goal of top 5 in every category, or do you focus more attention on categories you feel your competition will pay less attention to, making it easier to dominate those particular categories?

Shawnee-Shawn Shawn!

If you broke rank and reached for two Catchers with last names that start with the letter "M"...would any advantage you gained be washed away by what you sacrificed in order draft them a tad before the going rate?

~Lance Are you thinking Jose Molina and Doug Mirabelli, or Jose Morales and Eric Munson?

Shawn:

Most people don't realize your other area of expertise is wagering on the dog races.

Knowing that you can spot a good "dog" when you see one, what two or three players being selected in the first three rounds of the MOCKS are "dogs" this season.

If you want to make it a Superfecta ticket, I'll gladly take a 4th dog to include on my ticket.

Thanks pal. K

Thanks pal. K As a follow-up question, how do you feel about dog fighting? Was the punishment bestowed on Michael Vick too lenient?

Shawn...

With Joe Nathan earning a save in 9 out of Johan Santana's 15 wins...(24% of his saves coming when Santana Started)...does Nathan drop down a tiny bit with the departure of Johan...or does that not factor in enough to matter...it's simply save opportunities regardless of the SP?

Good Coffee...

At 32, is Eric Byrnes aging like fine wine???

If you separate a player from his numbers...and just look at raw numbers...GEEZ! I know 2007 had "career year" written all over it...but man...his numbers rank right there with the best. (avg. aside)

.286, 21 HR, 50 SB, 83 RBI, 103 Runs...

If those numbers were from C. Crawford or A. Soriano or BJ Upton, or Ichiro...it would seem THOSE guys would be first rounders. (or very close)

No love for "Speed to Burn-zee???

Shawn, What is a better strategy with regards to reserves? Is this where you seed minor-leaguers with potential MLB current year probability, high-risk major leaguers (i.e. coming off injury, still injured, but due back, et al), pure gambles, or players with starting or reasonably high-AB roles, but whom might only be filler on your team, but could do in a pinch?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Shawn...

In your opinion...are there too many easy ways to "rig" one league, in a big multi-league auction format main event...that it is not a realistic goal for the near future...even with enough interest?

Shawn - I believe both of us will win the 100K in the near future. My question, who does it first, me or you?

Please rank the following players on "UPSIDE" for 2008...not what you conservatively think they will get...but potential upside...

A) Jeremy Hermida (Age 24, Highly hyped prospect who broke out in the second half of 2007.)

Projecting a 550 AB season using 2007 2nd half numbers...

.330 Avg, 23 HR, 76 R, 78 RBI, 4 SB

B) Matt Kemp (Age 23, may now be a regular)

Projecting a 550 AB season using 2007 2nd half numbers...

.319 Avg, 21 HR, 85 R, 78 RBI, 18 SB

C) Delmon Young (Age 22, Trade to MIN impact???)

Projecting 550 AB (to keep things even) using 2007 2nd half numbers...

.298 Avg, 6 HR, 43 R, 80 RBI, 6 SB

Better chance of happening in 2008...

1) Harden gets 10+ Wins.

2) Prior gets 10+ Starts.

3) Sheffield qualifies as OF at some point.

4) Either Ortiz, Hafner or Thome qualify at 1B.

(Sorry for too many questions.)

I figure...better to be so busy answering other questions, and never get to mine...than to run out of questions and have "dead air". :D

I've got plenty more...but feel I'm getting out of hand already!

Better bet at these odds...

Chris Young, SD 6'10" 260 lbs. (3 to 1)

Randy Johnson, ARI 6'10" 231 lbs. (3 to 1)

Richie Sexson, SEA 6'8" 237 lbs. (2 to 1)

To win a slap fight! :D :D :D

OK...Sorry...the coffee has finally worn off...I'm done.

CCD,

last season's draft championship league didn't pan out for you. A strategic mishap or was it due to freak injuries/rare underperformance by your players ?

Do the lack of free agents tilt the skill/luck % in luck's corner or does this league require a more skilled approach than the main ? That said do you have a specific strategy in place for this type of league or is just like the main - pick the best damn player in every possible round ?

Having fun yet Shawn? :D

17th round - you have a good pitching staff so far - four SP and two closers: Rich Harden and Randy Johnson are both available - which one would you take and why?

If you liked your hitting and the one you didn't pick in 17 was available in 18 would you add him?
