WOW, what a weekend for this NFBC rookie. I went from having football withdrawals in February to looking into facilitating for the NFBC to be a part of the action, to participating in the main event of the NFBC...all in a matter of a month. What a novice rookie...nothing like preparing for the draft assuming that baseball had 3rd round reversal...just like in the NFFC.

I'm now hooked for life in the NFBC as well. Great to make some new friends, great to meet some old friends as well from the NFFC who participate in both events. Now lets get this party started to see if I can earn Rookie of the Year honors.

Nice post Jules. It took 3 cancelled flights, but I finally made it, and it was well worth all the trouble getting out there. Yes, back to back auctions on Friday is grueling, at the same time, for an auction addict, its fantastic! Heck, I think I'd do a 3rd if Greg took signups for a Midnight auction friday night!

I'll have to hang out with the crew Thursday night next year. Sounds like it was fun. I did get to meet Eddie Gillis, who seems very cool. Also met 'the champ'(Terry) who seems like one of the nicer guys you'd want to meet. Always good seeing Perry(3rd straight year in the Main Event together I believe), and Kelly.

Brady was solid as always. AL Only Auction was particularly fun with the wit and dry/sarcastic humor floating around.

Sorry for taking some of your targets Perry. Perhaps you can take solace in the fact that you pegged a number of mine as well. Josh Hamilton was a highly coveted target of mine. I was going to draft him in every league! I just didn't shoot high enough. I was targeting him in either the 7th or 8th(in retrospect, that was wishful thinking), but Perry swooped in and snagged him in the 6th(outbid me in the AL also). Pudge is another I sought, but when he hit $13 in the AL I dropped out. I believe he went 7th round in the Main.

Miggy was another target I missed out on, as others were willing to go just a buck higher than my limit for him. I'd resolved to take Cabrera in the first round in the 5th slot in the main, but when Hanley Ramirez was still on the board, I had to change my plans.

Well, I'm back in C-bus, and the real bummer is its 12 months 'til the next NFBC! Not sure I can wait that long!

[/QUOTE]aka - Greg Morgan

IMO the Reds got taken to the cleaners with the Hamilton trade. Trading their best hitter(yes better than Griffey and better than Dunn) for a soft tosser(Herrera) and a flyball pitcher with poor command(Volquez) moving to GABP was terrible. Josh Hamilton has MVP upside. Josh's arm already ranks among the best OF arms in the game....they should have gotten more. I know Volquez is having a nice spring, but I still don't like that trade, even if Volquez turns in a decent year as the #3 in Cincy(a low % play, but possible), they overpaid.

By the way, I tried to get a line on Hamilton to win the homerun title. He wasn't listed. He was part of the field which was 15-1. I took a shot Francouer at 200-1. I thought I could get Hamilton at 300+ to 1. He would be a nice shot for a $100.

Hey Jules,

Just wanted to say hi and that it was nice to meet you at the NL 650 (even though you and Perry made a pretty intimidating combo sitting there at the end of the table). Loved your post -- my only fear is that the room made my hair look much more red than it actually is, so I hope you don't hold that against me when I see you again Anyway, it was great finally meeting at least one other female on the planet who 'gets' that auction/draft day is truly the grown-up equivalent of Christmas!
