With the week 5 win, your wife has given you a free pass to the extra events in football!! You win your choice of a Steve Smith or Reggie Bush jersey!! The only problem is: you have to make the tackle before they get in the endzone!
Will any of the other stars from Las Vegas 3 with a week this year?

Congratulations again to Randy and good luck to everyone in the NFBC this week. Congrats Randy. I just talked to our 2008 sponsor this morning and we should have the prizes secured very shortly. It is a new sponsor and it's a good prize for all 26 weekly winners of the NFBC. So just hang tight with us and all past winners and future weekly winners will be rewarded. You can even bring this prize to the Fi$her party in August!!!

Great news Greg. Because I for one refuse to win a week, until I know the prizes!

Thanks everyone! It was a nice week despite Bronson Arroyo trying to screw it up on Sunday. Now I just need a few more weeks just like last week! See everyone at The Flamingo in August
Shawn - I can't make up my mind between Reggie Bush and Steve Smith so I'll take both!
GG - Not ready to run my own spring training yet, but I'll be there to soak in all that valuable information again!! See ya in Vegas in August??
Sack - I see 4 more Phillies midweek day games this summer (June 5th, June 18th, July 10th & August 7th). Chances are good we'll be making that trip again, hopefully you will be able to join us!!

The bullseye is square on you now Randy. You've earned a spot in my tracking spreadsheet, so I'll be watching your every move, plotting how to overtake you.

Chase Utley, Lance Berkman and Rafael Furcal have been the key figures on Randy Barbour’s NFBC team so far this season. So it was no surprise that trio stepped up again last week, but this time their numbers not only helped Barbour enjoy a productive week, but the best one in the entire event.
Big weeks from Rafael Furcal (.393, 11 runs), Chase Utley (.348-3-5), Lance Berkman (.333-2-8) and Willy Taveras (5 SBs) led the way offensively as Barbour’s Latham team in Las Vegas League 3 finished with 3,490.5 points. Tim Hudson, Shaun Marcum and Zack Greinke combined for 28 strikeouts and two wins while Francisco Rodriguez had three saves to lead the pitching staff.
“It was a nice week,” Barbour said. “My only negative for the week was Bronson Arroyo, who I thought might have ruined my week with seven earned runs in 1.1 innings on Sunday.”
Fortunately, Barbour’s offense was more than healthy especially with Mike Cameron (three HRs) back in the mix. And while Francisco Rodriguez is Barbour’s only closer, he’s been piling up saves in bunches.
The strong offense Barbour has received so far was a result of a heavy emphasis on hitting going into his draft.
“My basic draft day strategy was to load up on hitting early and grab pitching in the middle rounds of the draft due to the depth in starting pitching,” he said. “I do most of my strategizing during the draft as each draft has its share of curve balls.
“I tend to emphasize reading the draft and being able to adjust on the fly. This leads me to my most important strategy of not getting too drunk on Friday night. I managed to take it a little easy on Friday while hanging out with half of our Las Vegas 3 teams at The Flamingo sportsbook.
“We have a bunch of good guys in LV3 who are NFBC veterans, and they are a lot of fun to compete against. And my last piece of draft strategy was when in doubt, sneak a quick peak at John Zaleski's cheat sheet when he wasn't looking.”
Barbour is married and lives in Cockeysville, MD where we trust he does not pass on the art of sign stealing to his three young daughters.
“My girls are ages 5, 3 and 11 months, so I spend more time watching 'The Disney Princesses' these days than I do baseball,” he said. “This is my fourth season in the NFBC and I have been in the NFFC every season. I am hoping that I can build on my good start this season and hopefully stay healthy enough to compete all season.”

Another footnote to Randal...
I commented at the draft table after viewing his homemade contraption draft sheet that I liked it and would be using it as a reference when creating my cheat sheet for 2009.
I noticed a few other in Vegas had similar ones...a double sheet sized laminated cheat sheet that had all you needed on one big sheet of paper...rather than shuffling through a stack of magazines and sheets.
Should Randy win it all...I predict the amount of such style cheat sheets to more than double at next years draft!

~Lance Lance,
It's actually a piece of cardboard cut to fit in my suit case. But I have to admit that I stole the idea from Rick Thomas who has been using it for years
