One bad lineup decision

Post by Hard Heads » Fri Sep 26, 2008 2:27 pm

after another will apparently cost us a shot at winning in our rookie year. September has been a rough month dealing with the "day to day" injuries of such people like Glaus, Ankiel, Matsui, Zambrano, Sheets and now Nyjer Morgan and Placiso Polanco go down for the final 3 days. We have certainly screwed the pooch on a couple of moves, but when a manager says a guy is still dealing with his back issues and may need a few days so you bench him and he proceeds to hit .700 with 5runs and hr and rbi and 4 rbi in 4 days you get a lil frustrated. Then you have a guy who takes 2 or 3 cortisone shots for his bum shoulder and you have him in your lineup to take a big goose egg. So you bench him for the next week and pick up the hot young guy Brandon Wood and Glaus proceeds to hit 2hr and have 3 runs and 4rbi while Wood plays 2 games while he did steal a bag and hit an HR, we are in a race needing 2.5 pts to win. We trail 2nd place team by 7 runs. We are in a battle in avg needing .005 for 2pts and we luckily just passed 2 teams in rbi so I cant bitch there, but we could lose it fast. One last thing to bitch about is ZMan. We benched him one time in the last 6 weeks and it was for his no hitter. We trail the 1st place team in k's by about 20 and are ahead of the 2nd place team by 1 K, ya think that toad could pitch when he is in our lineup and not while he sits on our bench?

Sorry, been a long tight year and had to vent. I am in a league where the top 3 teams sit in the top 25 overall and it sucks. Wish we had it easier, but it certainly has taught this rookie team alot!

See you all in March and pray for me would ya? ;)

Hard Head's good luck , it tough making the right call's and pickup's in the last few week's.I grabbed Ryan Garko last week and played him over Hafner and he gave me some homer's and 9 rbi's so kept him in this week and another big week with 2 homer's and 5 rbi's what a stud.On the wrong side im fighting for runs and bavg and sit Michael Young cause of his bad finger and thinking he may sit a game or two, WRONG he has 5 runs with 4 rbi's and hitting like 700.OCH You win some you lose some.Im up 1 point in the main for 2nd place and down a half a point for 2nd in the Super and 7.000.00 dollars. Good Morning Gentlemen:

Since I've been one of the principle beneficiaries of what ails you, let me just say: Thank You

Seriously, there are still too many points in play for me to begin doing an end zone dance. As a matter of fact, I have no plans of reducing my Atavan dosage until Monday and thats providing there isn't a playoff game

As of 8AM (MST) Eddie you're back in the drivers seat, I/we have RT and Shawn nipping at our heels and getting knocked out of the winners circle is a very real possibility. Second and Third place in Super 1 may not be decided until the last AB.

In LV10, the points are still there in the right scenario for me to be knocked from first. Second/third is much more volitile with 4 teams still involved. Another last pitch league.

I hope I'm not understating it when I say that it would be rather untimely to have a bad day on 9/28 :(

Finally after 6 months and 3 shared leagues I want to say to all those who know EddieG by reputation alone, that it's a well earned rep. You're one tough hombre Eddie. Mike (Hardheads), my newbie co-competitor: I have a feeling it won't be too long before you establish a league wide TC (tough competitor) rating yourself. You can count me in as a believer now.

I have no idea how today's going to play out, but win, lose or draw, it's been fun playing against both of you. I have no hesitation in wishing you both the best of luck, but praying for you? That's out of the question

Bob Thanks Bob and totally agree, we could end up 1st or end up 5th still! For the record it is my birthday and what a birthday present it would be to have a huge day to finish and win this tough league! Best of luck!

BOB:

Been a long ride from that IP Breakfast on draft day.

Sitting 2nd with one game to play and the slighest of chances to move one spot but even more likely to take a step back to third. At least there will be a check. Enjoyed talking baseball with you.

Best of luck today.

Hey Ken,

Good luck today! I also have one league (I hope only one) that is very up in the air. Loved meeting you at the IP breakfast. By the way, did Lindy tell you that we had a sidebet? Whoever had the most top 40 finishes in the weekly Overall standings would get treated to Breakfast next year. Wouldn't you know it, we tied 4-4! So it looks like you'll be treating. Looking forward to it
