Hey Tom very nice read and agree with much of what you say especially Hart .His 2nd half numbers scare me too and just way too much talent avaible better than Hart in the 4th round. He would have to slide in the 7th round for myself and that isnt happening.
Triva who is the only fantasy hitter going in the top 65 with a obp 300 or less.
Answer Corey Hart.

Thanks Tom.
Good to see a fantasy baseball thread started.
I'm guessing the catchers will keep climbing while prospects drop a bit.

I'm guessing the catchers will keep climbing while prospects drop a bit. For some oddball reason, this post made me wonder the percentages of callups per position after the season starts.
It would seem a catcher would be on the more rare percentage, considering all of the factors that go into the position.
Is there some list from the last 3-10 years of MLB callups by position percentage?

I can see the appeal of his 20-20 potential and I think he is talented. But I think there are safer options with just as much upside you can find a little later in the OF as opposed to taking him where he's currently going in NFBC drafts. Now if he puts it all together, look out. But the book was set on him late last season and if he can't adjust he's going to continue to struggle.

I'm guessing the catchers will keep climbing while prospects drop a bit. I'd expect the latter; not sure about the former. I'm interested to hear what everyone here thinks about the catcher position but I think it's horrible again. Very top heavy. Much like 2B. If you can't land a quality catcher early the talent drops off dramatically. That's why Greg and I are so high on Wieters. He's going in a nice range right now and there's little downside with taking him because the talent is pretty much gone anyway by the time his ADP rolls around. Why not swing for the fences with his upside and grab a Pierzynski-type later to bide you over if he does start in the minors? Seems like a workable strategy to me.
Thanks Tom.

1.passing on a good offensive player or good SP/CL for a rookie catcher missing 1/3 of the season
2.drafting 3 catchers, the last of which will come at the expense of a possible break out starter (mid 20's) and will assuredly be weak (G.Zaun ?)
3. Rostering 3 catchers for 2 months. That reserve roster spot will be toast better left for backup offense, a CL in waiting etc etc...
