how about a 45 round draft champion with a redraft at allstar break. according to greg, this league can be done. maybe we lock in on the nite of allstar game and if you dont want or need to redraft you jus stick with originals or set up the que. i am thinking a 325 for entry. let me know my draftboard has been updated and i am ready to try it out...any suggestions are welcome..thanks RT

Maybe I misunderstood what you wrote, but it seems like teams would have an option to redraft -- is that correct?
Also, is this a "no juice" league?

koq,
you would be drafting to get the "dead" weight off your team. some teams may draft 10 player (more or less???) that werent drafted originally and some teams may only need to fill a couple of holes. keep in mind you would be keeping the players you drafted and drafting players that werent drafted....hope that helps...RT

Definitely something to consider -- I might be interested in this format.

I love the idea, I'm in!

Well, I have been holding out for AL and NL satellites, but this format intrigues me and I have always wanted to try it. With the early interest in this league, perhaps this is the time to take the plunge....
but I still would do the AL and NL only sats....

great early response for this format!!! i will suggest to greg to get a signup list going...thanks all!! i think the reason some people stay away from dc leagues is that they get discouraged by lack of depth as players get dl'ed for season or minor league stabs never make it. i like that we get to refire and who doesnt like drafting in july?? do you like playing for free entries or a dollar breakdown?? i like free entries personally....RT

[/QUOTE]Not sure, but I don't think the math works for a Diamond Entry at the $325 price point that was mentioned by Rick earlier in the thread.
That is unless Greg & Ryan had decided to be extremely generous with this league.
However, if the price point were say $750 and Greg would accept approx. the 10% juice that the NFBC gets for the Diamond, we could make this work. It could be called the Diamond Challenge.....(wait, I think that's been used somewhere.....
)
How about the RT Diamond Redraft Challenge?

This is a way to let the teams that are buried in the standings back in it.
It penalizes the teams who drafted the "right" guys in the first place.
There are no do-overs in real baseball. And there shouldn't be in fantasy either.
Just my 2c.

I like the idea of the re-draft. It could keep the competition going when some teams appear to be out of it.
Besides, i don't ever remember drafting a team that I was 100% happy with.

I like the idea of drafting for a Diamond (or Ultimate) entry. Seems like a low-juice 750 entry Diamond satellite or 375 entry Ultimate satellite might work since fanball wouldn't actually be paying anything to the winner and it would create a big money entry for the following season ???
... but not sure I love the redraft concept and don't understand it fully.
Is the concept ...
1a) With each draft choice you must also drop a player, or 1b) is there a finite number of players added to your roster?
2) Start with a fresh roster and full draft but keep first half stats?
3) Somthing else?
In concept #1 draft slot would be critical. There may be 2-3 players (or pick a number) head and shoulders above everyone else in the pool. Thus, huge edge goes to the lucky draft slot pull.
Concept #2, which I don't think you intended, could be fun and draft slot would be less an issue.
Or is it door #3?

kj...1a is what i am proposing. i was originally thinking just reverse order of standings to determine the draft of non drafted players. to make it most fair we could have a finite number of non drafted players...5 rounds...i am open to other ways to redraft undrafted players. i do like the idea of playing for a diamond entry, the key to this league is to have the ability to get rid of players at allstar break to make that 2nd half push for 10k

Reverse of standings is probably OK, all the top talent will go to teams that are out of it so the redraft isn't likely to have a huge impact on the outcome ... this assumes that the out of it teams actually show up for the redraft and don't let top players slide unintentionally or intentionally.
That could be the biggest issue.
Limiting the total number of players shouldn't have much impact, not sure if that's necessary.
I might be interested if Greg would run this as a 750 entry --- 45 rd fast draft?

Though I am not so into the idea of the Diamond Challenge part, considering there won't be THAT many players picked up, a one-night open auction where everyone has 100 units to spend could work. If you are in first and a challenging team lost its 3B and there is a 2010 Chris Coghlan available, just bid more than the other owner and he is yours and not theirs. Hmm, but maybe by doing that, I am unable to pick up the starting pitcher reinforcement I need.
It shouldn't be very long, can be done in a chat room or over Skype and adds another layer of complexity to an already unique league.

Todd - in your case how do you break a tie if 2 teams go all in, 100 max. Or 300 or whatever it's set at ? Use reverse standings for that?
How about a $ bid for draft order that pertains to the original draft AND the supplemental in July? $ goes into the pot-for additional cash prize on top of entry.
The available player pool will probably be bigger than one realizes. Minor leaguers that emerge from nowhere could add to pool based on their callup prospects. I'm sure there will be flotsam and jetsam galore on our rosters
That and the reverse re-draft order (tm15 picks twice before going back up) would negate a perceived big bid edge for the owner after Pujols and the 1st re-draft pick

Not a FAAB, but an open auction.
Going once, going twice, sold.
I'm sure Mr. Stein could handle that, right Geoff?
Reverse standings could decide who throws out the first name I suppose.
The problem with the Diamond aspect is the league would be restricted to those that know they will be in Vegas.
Well, since I don't know that, it is a problem for me anyway

My favorite so far - bid real $'s for draft slot with draft order reversed in July. RT or Q could handle the side money (or I could if neither of you want to).
Side money funds second place or ?
