Oh my, I've found my new heroes!! Worst Russians Ever have the greatest stories in NFBC history and we added to it this year in Las Vegas. They LOVE the auction format and we unfortunately did not fill up that last auction on Sunday, March 26th that they were signed up for. We had to cancel it days before the event. Greg Glukhovsky and his brother are two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet who just LOVE fantasy baseball. They are both very successful and very, very busy family men. They just love the getaway of the NFBC and the fun of competing in this format. We're their release and the provider of a great brother-brother hobby.
So they called me on Friday afternoon in Las Vegas to let me know how disappointed they were that the Sunday auction was cancelled. Yes, they were in the Saturday main event, but they really wanted to do the auction. Sure enough, we had one guy who didn't show on Friday afternoon at 4:00 and I called Greg and told him to get his butt downstairs and he could replace this guy. We had no time to lose. We actually had to get started with them on the phone and Ray Flowers filling in during the early part, but they hustled down, gladly took the spot, gladly caught up during the first break and did their best (despite sweating profusely!!).
Everyone in that league was also very polite with them, allowing them time to catch up on the bids, etc. Heck, Ryan was even the auctioneer until I had to relieve him.

Blame King of Queens for that.
So despite all of that, I see the Worst Russians Ever -- weren't you guys the Mad Russians once? -- are 12th overall today. Good job guys. Good job battling back and assembling a very good team. Good luck the rest of the way, but thanks for jumping in at the last moment and making this league not only right but extremely competitive. We'll add it to the 2004 story.
