We have two picks to make here. One of them has been decided for a while, but I will have to wait for a response from Dave for the other. It's about time we grabbed a pitcher and so our 6th round selection is.....

John W. "Jack" Taylor 1902

23 W 1.29 ERA .953 WHIP 88 K 333 2/3 IP

http://bioproj.sabr.org/bioproj.cfm?a=v ... &pid=14017 that's an interesting pick. i went to look for him on my spreadsheet, but he's not even listed.

looks like my data feed is missing him for some reason. {no, i didn't use baseball reference}. got to love it when you are playing without all the data
Well I was hoping we might have stolen him from you. I guess that's not the case if

you were unaware of him .
no, i'm pissed that i'm missing data. it makes me wonder what happened and WHAT OTHER DATA I'M MISSING.

he's a good pick for you, and now you've revealed your strategy :D
To get the best combo of wins, ratios and IP we could with our ace? Isn't that everyone's strategy?

GREAT way to begin your weekend. :( They are listed if you go to the year.

Gekko- Maybe the problem has something to do with guys who started pitching pre 1901?
thanks shawn. when i initially got my stats, i just copied the "all time" top 1,000 single seasons for each category from mlb.com. if you go search all time single season best for era, taylor is not listed.
There are two Jack Taylors. One who pitched previous to 1901. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with anything though.

An interesting Jack Taylor note.. between 1901 and 1906 he pitched complete games in 185 consecutive starts. Now that's another record that will never be broken!

Excellent pick there with Bagwell, We gave him strong consideration last pick before settling on Pujols. One of my favorite players of the late 1990s, loved those killer B's in Houston.

Getting tougher here to make picks now. The fact that this pitcher I think is the only one left who had 20 plus wins, 200 plus ks, an era below 1.75 and a whip of basically lower then 1.000 made me have to lean his way.

Dean Chance 1964

20 W / 1.65 era / 207 K / 1.006 whip / 278.1 IP / 4 Save

Definitely seeing a delineation between the value drafters and the intuitive drafters.
