Auction Question
Auction Question
I'm a newbie to auctions and will participate in both the mixed satellite auction and a live auction. The satellite rules state: "Those owners participating in the NFBC Satellite Auction League, however, must spend their $260 budget on their 23 required starters and a 7-round serpentine draft will be held after that for the reserve rounds."
Does this mean that players selected in the 7-round serpentine draft will be selected at no cost to our budget?
If so, perhaps the statement could be changed to read: "Those owners participating in the NFBC Satellite Auction League, however, must spend their $260 budget on their 23 required starters. A 7-round serpentine draft will follow for the reserve rounds with players selected at no cost to the owner's budget."

Auction Question
Yes, the $260 budget is only for the 23 starters.
Reserves are acquired via a serpentine draft.

Auction Question
Here are a few more questions/clarifications:
1. After a player's position has been designated by the acquiring team during the auction, he can't be moved to a different position for the duration of the auction. True?
(e.g., BJ Upton is acquired and placed at 2B. He can't later be moved to OF)
2. Can any minor league player with Amer League affiliation can be acquired during the auction?
3. Concerning categories of WHIP, ERA, and BA; how many decimal places are used to compute standings? At what point if any, would a category tie be declared?
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help. 1) FALSE - you can move him at any time
2) "The pool of players that may be bid upon includes members of every organization for the league in question (American or National or both in Mixed). Unsigned free agents at the time of the draft may also be added to the list of eligible Draft Day pickups in the NFBC, but they only accumulate stats if they land in the league they were acquired in (ie: Roger Clemens is a free agent and is acquired in an AL-only auction league and an NL-only auction league and then signs with Houston; he only accumulates stats in the NL-only auction league and the Mixed Auction League. He would not be eligible in the AL-only auction league unless he was traded over to the AL later in the year)."
3) four IIRC but they would be carried out far enough to break a tie - if a true tie, the points are halved.
ALL of this should be in the rules which you can access

Thanks for the help. 1-Yes, a player can be moved around at any time.
2-Yes, Any American league player and a major league free agent can be called out. If a free agent signs with the NL, his stats won't count.
3-I think they go out as far as they need to in order to break ties.
And one more thing Cowboy Joe, if you don't come to the auction with your gun loaded, you might miss out on some of the early battles. Brady will get the AL auction moving. So go out and bye Kenny Chesney's CD and play Don't Blink!!

Auction Question
"The owner who acquires the player will have his/her budget reduced by the amount of the winning bid, accordingly. The owner must also announce the roster position that the player will fill."
With respect to Perry and Shawn a close look at the rules does not say that. It says the winning bid must announce the roster position. There's nothing in the rules that says you can change it later. Either the rules need to be rewritten
or Shawn and Perry are wrong.

I can make that more clearer, but Perry and Shawn are right that you are allowed to move players with multi-position eligibility to a different spot during the course of the auction as you acquire more players.
