He's probably regretting it already.

For now, GIZMO is winning. I'm in 13th place with 68 points. But my ERA/WHIP so far this week are 1.93/0.64, so the comeback is on!

The status of the bet is that it's off. And I am finished with the topic whether Greg does anything or not.

Not because I think it's a bad bet (which I don't), but because my blood has been boiling on this issue since this morning and I need to put this issue behind me which I will not be able to do without closure.

I apologize to KJ for the perceived disrepect in stating my opinion on the matter and escalating the negative aspect of the discussion. In essence I joined the ranks of bush league myself with my message board behavior.

Carry on.

Ha Steve !!!

It looked like easy money, but perhaps it's for the best since he might not come back if he had to pay my entry too. First time I've had someone unilaterally call off a bet though. :o

On a brighter note, it's great to see Chase Utley playing again and start with a BANG! Starts off with a HR and follows it up with a 400 foot flyout to dead center.

Couldnt agree more with name calling and that everyone has thier own individual opinion... it's called respect, something that seems to be a lost value these days in our country.
I agree, but call me BUSH - twice - and I'm gonna tell you what I really think. I let is slide the first time.

I'll try to be nicer from here on to the guy that's paying for my team next season.
In many formats, there are "undroppable" players, or players that you are not allowed to drop, due to the integrity of the league. The NFBC has never chosen to take this route, and I agree. If you want to designate 30 or 40 players and say they are undroppable, unless they are injured, you could just as well say there are 70-80 players based upon possible future performance or past results... its a no win situation. Greg made the determination that there was no collusion and the strategy was to help his own team, not to give up on his team or throw in the towel. Personally, I have no problem with anyone KJ dropped. I could see how Ian Kennedy could be questioned, but if I dropped RA Dickey 6 weeks ago, no one would have said a word. Its all about timing, and it appears everyone KJ dropped, other than maybe Kennedy, looks like pretty good moves at this point... Oh and by the way, I would think calling KJ "Bush" would sorta be a backwards compliment, in a republican sorta way... and calling him "Bush" twice? Well... enough said.

kj is one of those "smartest guys in the room". you know he thought this through. if you are gonna do it- now is the time and you have to go all in . bk- surprised that you got on the republican theme and didn't play off the kennedy drop. ps- if he had dropped zambrano or that stud samardija- then i would have been worried about it. the average temp in arizona the next 2 months will be about a zillion degrees- if kennedy doesn't find his stuff- it could get really ugly, like yesterday at wrigley for jeff the wonder boy.

Just to let everyone know, we left Ian Kennedy in this Las Vegas Main Event league and he went for $310 to the sixth place team. Nolasco and Hudson didn't get picked up. The next most valuable pickup in this league was Marco Estrada at $112.

We will continue to watch all of the cuts each week going forward just like we always have and make these tough cuts. But for the most part, we do allow these leagues to play out, with an eye always toward the fairness of the overall championship. Good luck all.

I didn't want to chime in on this when it was a 'hot subject'.
Cooler heads have prevailed.
It was amusing to see Kevin go with this strategy and see the backlash.
For Kevin, I was imagining one of his investors screaming at him,
"Sell IBM!?!"
"You know how much money IBM has made me?"
"Screw you, I'm finding another broker!!!"
(Hangs up)
It is then that Kevin turns to his buddy and says, "When are these guys gonna realize that the past is the past, the present is the present, and the future is the future?"

If there is one person that would make a bold move like this, ahead of the curve, it would be Kevin.
I'd be willing to bet that the numbers Kennedy, Hudson, etc will put up the rest of the year will not be better or much different than that of Zack McAllister who was available to everybody on faab last week.

Not having a list of 'undroppables' and leaving it in the hands of Greg is one of the nuances of the NFBC that shows the character and quality of our contest and its contestants.
We know the score.
We know the undroppables.
Unneeded is a list that hamstrings its owners and prevents owners like Kevin from being bold in his moves.
A big thanks to Greg for being on top of things (again).
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Nice post Dan, I just circled back to this thread. :)

The Kennedy drop took $310 out of the FAAB pool, which will help me.

Also helping, in two starts for his new owner:
7.50 ERA
1.58 WHIP
0 Wins

This line includes today's game against the lowly Cubs ... with the wind blowing IN.

KJ, I'd be curious to know your movement in the standings since making these roster moves.

Ratios have probably gotten even worse as my "top notch" relievers have had bad outings too - Papelbon, Downs and a couple others that I'm trying to forget. Probably haven't lost ground in Ks and Ws because I was at or near the bottom before. The guys I dropped wouldn't have helped ... Estrada has been the only one with a good outing thus far.

It's impossible to gain ground in the short-term - if this works at all it will take the rest of the season for my ratios to recover.

I'll give you 4 to 1 that you don't finish 5th or better in your league with this new roster of your's you are feeling good about. You pull it off, I ante a main event team for you next year... you don't I get an OL team. If you think you have a legitimate shot at 3rd, you certainly should think you're better than 4 to 1 to get 5th.
And here we are 10 weeks later. From 68 points and 13th place ..... to 93 points; just moved into 3rd place.

Chance to reach 2nd place, but I could slide back a few too. Nonetheless, I think the verdict is in with respect to the strategy - I had no chance of getting here with my original pitching staff.
