Agreed on many points. First the consistency of BA and R's for Jeter. yes his power is down and his sb's are all over the map. I think he had leg problems this year and played through them. I noted this while watching the yankees/red Sox channell (espn). BTW I know they are always contenders and both have national appeal as well as large markets themselves, but come on. I'd like to see some other teams for a change. I swear they broadcast every Yankee/Red sox game they can. When wondering what the game will be on today all you have to do is check to see who these guys are playing, then you know what espn will broadcast. There are 28 other teams. Maybe someone should let them know about this new devolopement.

Please feel free to tell all your friends to watch the other teams so their ratings will improve and therefore ESPN will chose to highlight them

the only way they can grow their business is to show the other teams. this may come as a shock to the east coast- but the south and west are growing- they aren't. i do agree that the sox and yankees have rabid fans- but in the yankees case- i can remember the early 70's when they weren't so rabid. same with cub fans. it can be done- but they have to bite the bullet and show some other teams and develop interest in them. if espn can market poker, nascar, girls cheerleading- i am sure they could market baseball outside of the 150 mile radius of "the campus"

ESPN hasn't been the same since it stopped showing Australian Rules Football!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Broadcasting should be based on our drafting:

Drafted to this point are 10 Yankees (Maybe ESPN is right after all).

Four teams with Seven players taken Rockies, Angels, Braves and Mets.

Seven teams with Six D-rays, Twins, Phillies, Cubs, Brewers, Padres and Dodgers.

Seven with Five from Bos, Balt, Det, Clev, Sea, Cin and south side of Chi.

Three with four players Blue Jays, Astros, and D-backs.

Three with three players Marlins, A’s and Rangers

Another three with a pair of Giants, Pirates, and Nationals.

A single Card.

NO Royals!!!!

I know I'm showing my age but NBC took the same kind of criticism when the "Baseball Game of the Week" flourished in the 60's and 70's. They were the ONLY game in town as far as national telecast and yet every week it was the Dodgers, Reds, or Yankees. Thankfully TBS and a little later WGN got on most cable systems.

To tell the truth I don't watch most ESPN broadcasts, if a fly lands on the camera they'll analyze why it came from the left and not the right, overanalysis drives me crazy, let alone listening to Rick Sutcliffe drooling over how well every baseball player whoever put on a uniform performs. Blah, blah, blah.

CC, I am headed in tonight. I am hoping that the atmoshpere reminds Carmona more of his closing attempt at Fenway last season. The guy was so nasty this season that I'd be surprised with another subpar performance from him. Schill needs to come up big!

Having attended many earth shattering sporting events (true, mostly around the Bulldogs and the Braves), I can honestly say I am extremely jealous. This is the first playoff game this year that seems to have some real excitement around it.
