no, no, no. use the entire 5 1/2 history of the event to show the weak Venue. we all know where that is. sorry, the data tells us so. Chicago "pranks" prepared for Gekko by Chicago 4-
-----------------------------------------
Re-enactment of the St Valentines Day massacre
Re-enactment of Mrs. O'Leary's cow at Gekko's hotel
Introducing Gekko to Al Capone's great-great grandson and "his little friend"
A day in the same sanitarium as Milton Bradley
A sight seeing tour revisiting President Obama's life
Being fitted for funny looking cement shoes while cruising Lake Michigan
Visiting the rooftop seats across from Wrigley. Chicago 4 saying you can't get the full effect unless you're closer to the edge
Having a pizza sent to the room with the faint aroma of almonds

face it, 5 1/2 years of data is the best we have. if it said NY was the lay down city, i'd post that to. unfortunately, it doesn't

In 1932 after his "called shot", Babe Ruth, in the World Series, went around the bases at Wrigley Field pointing and jeering at Chicago players.
Maybe in 2011,after fullfilling his prophecy of winning it all in 2010, the guy from the New York drafts comes back to Chicago in 2011 pointing at, and jeering the Chicago faithful.

•greater % of poorly ranked teams in the overall event

How do YOU think it would show up?
If someone asked you which league you’d want to be in based on the info below, what would you say?
League A has 5 teams in the bottom 90 teams
League B has 0 teams in the bottom 90 teams
Hands down, sign me up EVERY time for league A. Basically, top teams in Chicago LG 4 are not competing against 14 other teams. They are only competing against maybe 10 or 11 other teams. You might have 15 active owners in that league, but I guarantee you that some of the very poor teams are not spending much time on their teams. And this, of course, breeds Superpower teams, as demonstrated by the data presented. What league would you rather be in:
league A: 4 teams in the top 20 in the overall
league B: 0 teams in the top 20 in the overall
There are multiple ways to look at this. Also, you can NOT make a generalization that league success is constructed from bottom up. It's only part of the equation for success. I believe I could have drafted a simliar team in many different leagues this year, Chicago or New York. For the overall standings, all good teams benefit from poor teams in the competition. I don't think just because there are 3 "poor" teams in my league, that that benefits me so much, it has made me and 3 other teams a top 20 overall team.
Fun discussion even though gekko is wrong.

If you are not an owner in Chicago League 4 or ranked in the top 20 overall, you are not allowed to post in this thread anymore due to NFBC statute 1.11.22.33. (unless you plan to draft in Chicago next year)

I noticed that the team in last in Chi4 drafted Webb as his first SP (6 of the 8 bottom teams in overall have Webb). I think you will all agree that Webb wasn't an awful pick (on draft day). I also believe that you will all agree that having your ACE (fourth round) SP perform like Webb has (or rather has not) this year will make reaching your Pitching goals very difficult. This team also compounded his pitching issues with BJ Ryan as his third pitcher. Again I will say when 2 of your top 3 pitchers drafted failing like these two it will be a long season.
I think you are wrong to believe that because this owner "missed" on two of his top three pitchers in 2009 that he will "miss" again in 2010.
Also when one team has drafted two “misses” that means the 14 teams didn’t get these players. Add in first round pick of Sizemore and you have a recipe for a long season.
Another “bad” team had major time loss injuries to five of their first 7 picks. Again these injuries didn’t end up on other teams.
I certain agree with Gigi that “ if you have some teams that are very poor for whatever reason (bad luck, bad managers, bad picks, just don't have enough fantasy skillz), that league (on average) will breed superpower teams.”
I don’t believe that these “bad picks” (in retrospect) = “bad managers” or “lack of fantasy skillz” and are more of a result of “Bad luck”.
I still stand by my view that the Chicago (along with Orlando and Phone), does not have any “Dead Teams” and LV and NY can not make that claim. Every stat accumulated by the four Chicago 4 teams in the top 20 has been earned.
Would love to have more then four tables in Chicago next year, but I am thinking about going to NY as I still believe that is where the most “dead money” plays.

Still windy after all these years! (in every way...Obama, CHI league 4 , etc)
"Why is Chicago called the "Windy City"?
Most people believe that Chicago got its nickname from its prevailing winds, but that isn't the case.
In 1893, Chicago hosted the World's Columbian Exposition, celebrating the four hundredth anniversary of America's discovery. The city's aggressive promotional campaign for the event offended the people of New York, whose press nicknamed it the Windy City to mock its bragging ways.
The moniker stuck, but, fortunately for Chicago, its original meaning has been forgotten by most."
...until now!!!

...until now!!! The following "windy city" explanation is from the Freeborn County Standard of Albert Lea, Minnesota, on November 20, 1892
“ Chicago has been called the “windy” city, the term being used metaphorically to make out that Chicagoans were braggarts. The city is losing this reputation, for the reason that as people got acquainted with it they found most of her claims to be backed up by facts. As usual, people go to extremes in this thing also, and one can tell a stranger almost anything about Chicago today and feel that he believes it implicitly.

The way that CHI has won the NFBC the last two years, and the way they speak on the MB, and the freaking SIZE of the Chicago metropolitan area...you'd think they'd have like 14 tables set up for the main event...not 4.
