That is why I love Fantasy Baseball!

Post by Edwards Kings » Fri Apr 07, 2006 12:23 am

So, I see a guy who had a little luck as a starter and had been a mediocre closer in his career, but primarily had been fodder for the back-end of many fantasy rosters. He is 35 now and changing leagues to be a starter again. Decent, not great, source of K's.

So, I see this guy pitch in the WBC...the DR versus Venezuela game...lots of MLB talent on both teams...great game and the guy pitches very well. My small, baseball fever-impacted brain registers that if this guy hasn't fallen off most fantasy radar screens, he at least is out there on the edge.

I watch...wait...and take him 30th. I am thinking this would be a good gamble...right match-up....right park...maybe even two favorable starts...boom...put him in there and steal a couple of quality starts. Looking at the first week and...NO WAY...he has one start and is pitching IN COLORADO...ride the pine this week loser!

Last night...Miguel Batista...only needs 100 pitches to get through seven innings with four hits, two walks, two ER, ELEVEN K's, a win, a 2.571 ERA and a WHIP of 0.8571.....damn, I love this game!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

LOL, me too... Only mine was a Faab pick up for 18 bucks.

Too afriad to pitch him in Colorado, now... If i pitch him in Arizona against the same team, will I see similar stats? or am I too afraid again???

You guys are right...at least we are smart enough to have him before the price goes up, but I REALLY HATED LOSING THE ELEVEN K'S...I will get over it after my first beer....and a nap...
