You wanna talk bad luck?

Post by Edwards Kings » Tue Jun 20, 2006 1:14 am

It seems like I draft at least one of these guys every year. Let's look at the last four starts for this guy.

IP 28, H 25, ER 8, BB 6, K 28. That equals a 2.571 ERA, a WHIP of 1.107 to go with a K per IP. Not bad. I need starters like this to make any kind of move on W's which I am lagging behind on. So, I am thinking with those numbers, that is three W's easy...but NOOOOOOOOOO! One lousy W is all!

The pitcher is Doug Davis who appears to be finally turning it around, but has horrible luck as in last night with 7.0 IP of shut-out ball, 9 K's, 3 H and 1 BB. Toe-to-Toe with Bonderman and leaves with a 1-0 lead, but Wise blows up in the 8th....

I need to catch a few breaks....

Anybody else need a crying towel?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Finally got a little of that luck...

I was really sweating Vazquez last night against St. Louis in Chicago, but happiness is checking the score around the fifth inning and seeing the White Sox up 13-1 (with all due apologies to the Mulder owners). Finally an easy one.

:D
