Best pick for late round saves
As of now, I think Taylor Tankersley has a good shot at securing the closers job in Florida. He has the opportunity as Borowski is gone. Florida keeps talking about bringing in a closer, like Benitez, but if they are unable to land someone, Tankersley had 46 K's in 41 IP, as well as only giving up 33 hits in 41 IP...his downfall, 26 BB in those same 41 IP.
He should get a shot at closing somewhere in the season. I know several people will like Soriano's shot with the Braves, but I'd take a look at Tankersley as long as Florida doesn't have a bona fide closer.

hate to break it to you poopy...Rafael Soriano's velocity is reportedly down in the Dominican Winter League as he works his way back from a concussion sustained in late August.
Soriano reportedly topped out at 91 mph in a recent outing and has given up seven runs -- five earned -- while striking out just one batter in six innings. It soulds like there's real reason for concern.

I didn't hear that. Thanks for the update. Don't like him too much to close in ATL.
I hear Kendry Morales was tearing things up from a power standpoint.

Ok, here's one for you...who gets the most saves in Chicago (Cubs) and about how many do they end up with?
I must admit, I'm not sure at this point. Have a few interesting candidates. I think no one breaks 20. I would like to see Wood close, but Dempster may start. Howry is also an option. Cotts???

Craig Hansen,
He was a closer in college and a No.1 pick in 2005 he could become a solid fantasy option.

I like everyone else have no clue who will end up with them, you even have to throw Eyre in to that mix. The one thing I am about 99% sure of is Dempster will not sit well with Sweet Lou on or off the field. The guy is an idiot who does not take baseball very seriously.

I don't know guys. I didn't take enough punishment from Dempy last year. I might be looking for more from him as a bargain pick. Have they said who will start the season as closer or if there will be a battle?
I hate the ST 'battles.' To me it is PR crap to get the people to the spring games, and get the players amped up while irritating fantasy drafters everywhere. I remember a few years ago when the A's has a 5th starter battle between Aaron Harang and John Halama. Halama's ERA was 11.49 and when they announced Halama would start the season as the 5th starter Harang's was 2 something. Not sure what else Harang needed to do there to win the battle, but to me a team should only announce a battle if they intend to pick a real winner. But even then you're resting the future on a fluky spring performance. To me everyone should have to submit their opening day lineup at the beginning of March. Down with battles!

I remember a few years ago when the A's has a 5th starter battle between Aaron Harang and John Halama.LMAO, I remember that too. Halama, what a joke! But I second your post...stop all the games with these "battles for positions." They know good and dman right well who is going to play what 99% of the time, the rest is a whole lot of nothing but talk - usually to keep the media away from other team issues...
"Yeah guys, I'll tell you what, that Halama may have given up 3 longs balls in 2 and a third, but he was really humping it up there...our guns got him at 90MPH today...looks like we got a real battle for our 5 spot."
Translation, either he was going to be used as trade bait, or Billy Beane thought every fifth game would be played with little league rules - 6 innings a game, that way Halama's 4 1/3 would have some value.

I would say any of the Boston relievers (Pineiro, Timlin, Tavarez, Hansen, Donnelly) could prove to be an excellent source of saves -- the question is which one!
Foulke will battle Borowski in Cleveland for saves. Same deal with Stanton and Weathers in Cincinnati. Someone's going to emerge from those two messes.
