Down the stretch and the race for first heats up!

Post by superpion » Sat Sep 10, 2005 9:21 pm

I don't look at the overall standings everyday as I am on the outside looking in as far as that's concerned but I happened to take a look at them this morning and was amazed to find out that we've got a legitimate 5 horse race going into the last few weeks of the competition.

Will the Doughboys hold on to the lead that they've carried for 90% of the season OR will CC's Desperados, Moneymaker, Appleton Hays or MGBS109 unseat them (possibly on the very last day)? This makes for compelling standings watching.

I know why none of the above mentioned teams has brought it up as they do not want to jinx anything but I am curious as to how much of the rest of the league has observed this race heating up?

Does anyone in the NFBC have opinions on who the favorite is to win it all based on the way the standings are positioned?

Good luck to all of you in the race as I'm sure you are entering into a 3 week period of some sleepless nights.....

My best guess is that aside from teams in the top 15 or so, most are concerned with their individual leagues or football.

Several league races are also very tight. CH3 is a very legitimate 5-team race. Through Friday, five teams were separated by just 5 points.

Again through Friday:

2 league races were tied

1 league race had the leader 0.5 ahead

4 league races had the leader 1.5 ahead

4 league races had the leader between 2 & 5 points ahead.

3 league races had the leader between 6-10 points ahead

6 league races had the leaders with double digit leads - the largest being 28 in LV3.

Of course, there are a bit over 3 weeks to go and leads evaporate although I like the odds of the LV3 leader.

Once again, through Friday, the top 6 teams overall were the only teams with 120+ points in their respective leagues. Also, one of the top 8 teams is actually not a league leader but they did have 130 points. Imagine have the 3rd highest league points out of 300 teams and finding yourself in 2nd place in your own league.

Good stuff Mike. Yeah, I look at the leaderboards each day and am amazed at the closeness of the races. The auction leagues all seem to have several teams within a point or two of each other. The Ultimate Leagues have also changed leaders several times throughout the season. It's been a great, great race all around and the last three weeks should be a great finish.

Good luck everyone.
